Just like "Jarhead 2: Field Of Fire," we're not sure why these decisions are made, or by whom, but for some reason, Universal has decided it's in their best interest to make a sequel to "The Man With The Iron Fists." The much hyped martial arts flick, directed by genre enthusiast and Wu-Tang Clan member RZA, was a resounding disappointment and box office failure, but at the very least, this followup includes his involvement. Titled "The Man With The Iron Fists: Sting Of The Scorpion," Roel Reiné — a specialist at this sort of thing with "The Marine 2," "Death Race 3: Inferno," and "The Scorpion King 3: Battle For Redemption" among his credits — directs the movie co-written by RZA and John Jarrell ("Romeo Must Die") that seems to involve more gangs fighting each other. There are no actual plot details, which hardly matters, since the first movie barely made any sense anyway, »

The first trailer has arrived online for The Man with the Iron Fists: Sting of the Scorpion, the upcoming direct-to-video sequel to RZA’s 2012 martial arts flick, which we have for you below…

Sting of the Scorpion sees RZA, Rick Yune, Zhu Zhu, Andrew Lin and Grace Huang reprising their roles as the Blacksmith, X-Blade, Chi Chi and The Gemini Twins, while newcomers to the cast include Dustin Nguyen, Cary Tagawa and Carl Ng.

Taking over directing duties from RZA on the sequel is Roel Reine, whose credits include numerous direct-to-video sequels such as Death Race 2, The Marine 2, The Scorpion King 3: Battle of Redemption, Death Race 3: Inferno, 12 Rounds 2: Reloaded and Seal Team 8: Behind Enemy Lines.

The Man with the Iron Fists: Sting of the Scorpion is expected to arrive some time next year.

WWE’s Randy Orton to Star in ‘The Condemned 2′ (Exclusive)

WWE Studios is adding “The Condemned” to its roster of film franchises, with the company tapping Randy Orton to star in “The Condemned 2: Desert Prey,” that Lionsgate will co-produce and distribute.

Roel Reine (“Death Race: Inferno,” “The Scorpion 3″) will direct the actioner from a script by Alan McElroy (“The Marine 4″).

Film follows a former bounty hunter who finds himself on the run as part of a revamped Condemned tournament, in which convicts are forced to fight each other to the death as part of a game that’s broadcast to the public.

Orton, one of WWE’s top stars, reunites with Reine on “The Condemned” sequel after having previously worked together on “12 Rounds 2: Reloaded.”

The Condemned 2″ will start production in New Mexico later this year.

Filming Underway on Tremors 5, First Photo Revealed

The giant worms known as Graboids are back to snack on unlucky surface dwellers in Tremors 5, but standing in their way as always is the indomitable Burt Gummer (Michael Gross). Filming on the latest installment in Universal’s horror franchise that began in 1990 is now underway in South Africa, with Jamie “Randy Meeks” Kennedy starring opposite Gross and Don Michael Paul in the director’s chair:

Universal’s Home Vid Production Arm Pacts With Threshold Animation

Exclusive: Universal 1440 Entertainment, the production arm of Universal Studios Home Entertainment, has signed a first-look deal with Threshold Animation Studios for CG-animated family features adapted from recognizable family-oriented brands. Universal will distribute films spawned from the deal. The companies first teamed on straight-to-dvd titles Lego: The Adventures Of Clutch Powers and Bionicle: The Legend Reborn. The pact gives Universal 1440 a stream of potential CG fare for its library of home video releases geared toward family audiences including the feature-length The Little Engine That Could film, the Emmy-winning PBS series Curious George, and the Barbie DVD film franchise.

In addition to the children’s titles, Universal 1440 has bolstered its home video offerings with non-theatrical franchise spinoffs including Death Race 3: Inferno, Curse Of Chucky, and the upcoming Scorpion King 4: Quest For Power.
