Newswire: Selma Blair joins Heathers

Selma Blair is set to star in Heathers, but not as an actual Heather. Instead, Blair will simply be Heather-adjacent, co-starring in the upcoming TV adaptation of the Winona Ryder dark comedy classic, which has just been moved from its starting spot at TV Land over to the Paramount Network. That’s per Deadline, which notes that Blair has been cast as “the gold-digging stepmother” of Brendan Scanlan’s character, Heather Duke. Blair announced the part with an Instagram post showing her character, complete with a line riffing on one from the original film:

Blair’s been a regular fixture on TV in recent years, appearing as Kris Jenner in the first season of American Crime Story, and as Charlie Sheen’s therapist/love-interest in Anger Management (at least until critical levels of Sheen exposure sent her running for the hills). She joins a cast that includes Grace

Major League 3 Is Ready to Go, It Just Needs Funding
After years of talk, it looks like Major League 3 may finally happen. Charlie Sheen has been into the idea of doing the movie for years, but now he says everyone is on board and they are just waiting for someone to "write a check." Assuming they can get financing together, it sounds like original director David S. Ward and the entire original cast are set to return for the long-awaited sequel.

The 51-year-old actor recently spoke with TMZ and revealed that David S. Ward has written the script for Major League 3 and that the movie is ready to go. He also said that "everybody is back," when asked who would be returning. That would presumably include Wesley Snipes and Tom Berenger. Though, he did note that Lou Brown, who was played by James Gammon in both Major League movies, will not be included in the sequel, but said they will "do it in his honor.

Chris Brown on black-ish: A Great Comedy Makes a Serious Error

Revolution Studios Sells to Content Partners

Revolution Studios Sells to Content Partners
Content Partner LLC and its affiliate CP Enterprises have acquired Revolution Studios from investment funds managed by affiliates of Fortress Investment Group for an undisclosed price.

Under its new ownership, Revolution will continue to operate as a standalone business led by chief executive officer Vince Totino and chief operating officer Scott Hemming, who now also serves as president.

The Fortress companies bought Revolution in June, 2014, for an estimated $250 million. Since then, the company acquired rights to 80 additional feature films, produced “xXx: Return of Xander Cage,” and secured deals to exploit the company’s library. The sale of Revolution was part of a plan to recapitalize Revolution — which had stopped film production in 2007 — and position it for growth.

Joe Roth founded Revolution in 2000 as a strategic partnership with Starz Entertainment, Sony Pictures, and 20th Century Fox. The company was never able to deliver a blockbuster hit and was better known for disappointments such as “Gigli” and “Hollywood Homicide.”

The comedy—which sees the former Two And A Half Men and Anger Management star play to type as a “lovable man-child with a heart of gold”—centers on three families waging war over a coveted Fourth Of July camping spot.

Mad Families is being written by Fred Wolf and David Spade, whose Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser was Crackle’s first major success in the filmmaking field. (Or, at least, its first major success in getting people to tune in to a mulleted train wreck; either way, ratings were reportedly pretty good.) Wolf will also direct and produce the new film, and reportedly worked with Sheen to tailor the character to his strengths as a performer. (Which we’re just going to
