The character of Terence (Sean Penn) says no actual dialogue in the whole film. He only did humming, grunting and opera singing.
Angry Birds (2016)'s production budget of $80 million (and extra $100 million spent on marketing) makes it the most costly film ever to come out of Finland, besting the previous record holder - Big Game's budget of $9.7 million.
Bill Hader based his character Leonard's voice on his high school football coach's voice.
Since it was released in 2009, the Angry Birds game has been downloaded more than 3 billion times across all versions and platforms of mobile devices.
In the beginning of the film, when Red asks the two birds what they rate the birthday cake he delivers, he asks how many stars out of three. This is a reference to the game; the highest score you can get is three stars.
Unlike the characters featured in the games, the animation team decided to give the film counterparts animated arms from the shape of the wings and legs to further animate the performances.
Alongside comedy duo Smosh, fellow YouTuber Toby Turner had a role in the film voicing a character named "Perry", however, his role was deleted in post for reasons unknown and there is no specific images of this character. It is speculated he might have been cut out due to a series of allegations accusing him of sexual assault and substance abuse in the month prior to the film's release.
In the scene where the chandelier with Leonard and Red is falling down in Leonard's castle, the episode _"Piggy Tales" (2014) (Dr. Pork, M.D. {#1.20})_ can be seen briefly on a TV in a room. When the pot falls through the castle, another episode _"Piggy Tales" (2014) (The Catch {#1.27})_ can be seen briefly on the TV in the room.
