Fame – it's a hell of a drug. Feud is like watching Robert De Niro and Al Pacino square off in Heat, except with two of Hollywood's living legends playing a couple of dead ones. In Ryan Murphy's new anthology series, Jessica Lange is Joan Crawford to Susan Sarandon's Bette Davis, a pair of toxic movie divas madly in hate with each other. As Davis famously snipped, "She has slept with every male star at MGM, except Lassie." This eight-episode fever dream celebrates how they basically invented the modern celebrity beef, »

[Warning: This story contains spoilers from the third episode of Feud, "Mommie Dearest."]

When it came to public image, there was none so conscious as Joan Crawford. The actress was renowned for the way she cherished her fans and wanted to present herself to them over the course of her career, which is why so many who knew her could only imagine how she would have felt were she still alive when her daughter Christina released one of the very first celebrity tell-all books, Mommie Dearest.

What put the co-stars and single moms at odds this time? Read on.

Feud: Bette and Joan Season 1 Episode 3 Review: Mommie Dearest

19 March 2017 8:00 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

This series continues to break my heart.

Obviously, so much of what we're watching is from the minds of the writers, because it's not claiming to be a documentary, but Feud: Bette and Joan Season 1 Episode 3 drove home so much of what Bette Davis and Joan Crawford had in common.

If the Hollywood system of their time had given them an inch to breathe, their story could have been so much different.

Both were single mothers struggling to raise their children and find peace of mind with their decisions.

At times, their mothering was called into question and they were forced to defend themselves. Considering the lives they led, they probably weren't doing even half of what they were being accused.

Bd wasn't great in the role of the neighbor girl, but neither was she terrible. She did stick out a bit in the finished film, but no more than »

'Feud: Bette and Joan' Recap: Why Does Joan Grow Jealous of Bette's Entire Life?

19 March 2017 2:40 PM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

In an annoying repeat from the previous episode of Feud: Bette and Joan, Joan and Bette start "Mommie Dearest" by getting along quite well with one another, only to have things come crashing down. In the episode, as the name implies, they bond about being single mothers in Hollywood. Once the two have an argument about who will be a supporting actress and a leading one at the Oscars, all hell breaks loose once again. (Fyi: Joan wants to be lead and Bette to be supporting.)

The episode devolves into some pretty petty catfights. Feud: Bette and Joan is at its best here when it is focusing on the very different ways the two women approach motherhood and not on their petty rivalry.

Deadline reports that the new drama will take place in 1986 and “examines the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York City: the emergence of the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world.”

Casting is currently underway for Pose, which is expected to feature an ensemble of new and unknown talent, ahead of a premiere in 2018. Murphy is producing with American Crime Story producers Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, along with Sherry Marsh (Vikings).

Every Shocking, Tumultuous Moment From Prince Charles and Princess Diana's Marriage

Image Source: Getty / Anwar Hussein Although season one of Ryan Murphy's Feud is just barely upon us, FX has already renewed the drama for a second season, and it's going to be a doozy. Titled Feud: Charles and Diana, season two will follow the tumultuous marriage of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, who were married from 1981 to 1996. Diana - whose legacy still lives on in her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry - died in a tragic car accident in August 1997 with her partner, Dodi Fayed, whom she began dating after the end of her and Charles's 15-year marriage. Before their divorce, however, their troubled relationship was the subject of plenty of tabloid speculation. The Early Years On Feb. 24, 1981, Diana and Charles announced they were engaged after meeting four years earlier while Charles dated Diana's older sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale.
