Rebel Wilson really is the end-all and be-all. Or, since she's Cosmopolitan U.K.'s January 2016 cover girl, maybe she's the begin-all too. The Pitch Perfect star has fittingly been named the magazine's Ultimate Woman of the Year, and she opened up to Cosmo recently about her career and how not looking like everybody else in Hollywood made her the star she is today. "Being unique and different was a really good thing," the Australian actress explained. "When I walked into my agent's office for the first time, they looked at me and said, 'Wow, we have nobody on our books like you.' And they signed me on my second day here." The 35-year-old confessed, "I »

Elizabeth Banks has become one of the most reliable comedic actresses of her generation, with a proven ability to steal scenes from even seasoned co-stars. She’s managed to stretch herself in a number of varied roles, from real life figures to wicked stepmothers and even a Lego figure. Her talent has also helped viewers get through less than amazing movies like Walk Of Shame and The Next Three Days.
In addition to her acting she’s also the driving force behind the Pitch Perfect series; she produced the original and made her directing debut with the second. With the huge success of Pitch Perfect 2 she’s now an in-demand director, as well as a vocal supporter of the need for more female directors in Hollywood.
She’s not one to just trade on her good looks for a role either, as she usually manages to bring a »

Struggling to come to terms with the loss of their childhood abode, Fey and Poehler deem that there’s only one thing that’ll serve as an adequate send-off: an epic party. And so, the remainder of the »

You’re thinking what we’re thinking: why is it that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and are, like, the funniest two people on the planet each time they host the Golden Globes, and yet, they can't seem to make a decent comedy together. We know they’ve tried, repeatedly! Ok, “Baby Mama” is really the only feature-length effort they’ve attempted together, so maybe the second time is the charm! The movie centers on two sisters (natch) trying to throw a final party at their house, which their parents are about to sell. Warner Bros. has released the first hilarious trailer for How to Be Single. This new romantic comedy has an all-star ensemble cast led by Dakota Johnson. True to its name, Universal Pictures captured audiences in 2015 with a diverse slate boasting universal appeal.
“They had a well-rounded roster of films,” says media analyst Doug Creutz of Cowen and Co. “Something for everybody.”
Diversity not only characterizes Universal’s hit pics. It also reflects the cast and crew of many of its latest and greatest. As with any good cocktail, the mix landed just right. And without a single superhero cape. Universal’s franchises, multicultural cast, crew and marketing teams, female-centric stories and women both behind and in front of the camera strongly contrast to the strategies of old.
With box office revenue pushing the studio well past $6 billion worldwide, Universal’s landmark success adds support to the truism that diversity is more than PC — it’s profitable.
Even though diversity may be one of Hollywood’s hottest tickets, it is not the latest. “Since I’ve been here, »

2015 was a year to remember for Universal Pictures, both at the box office and, more unusually, on the pop charts. With “Straight Outta Compton” and “Pitch Perfect 2” dominating cinemas while driving music sales all the while, the studio was responsible for the two biggest music-driven films of the year. And that harmony extended throughout the slate, with “Furious 7” and “50 Shades of Grey,” which notched three Top 10 pop hits between them.
Behind all of these projects was Mike Knobloch, Universal’s president of film music and publishing. The exec says the studio’s emphasis on music has been palpable since he came on as one of Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley’s earliest hires when she was named in 2009.
“Culturally, under Donna’s leadership, music has always been high on the food chain,” Knobloch says. “Everything from ‘Mamma Mia’ and ‘Les Miz’ to ‘Straight Outta Compton’ and ‘Pitch Perfect’ and music-driven non-musicals like ‘50 Shades. »

In what can only be described as great news, multiple award-winning writer and producer Kay Cannon is finally set to make her feature film directorial debut, with the upcoming comedy movie, The Pact. The producers of the film – including Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg – will almost certainly be hoping to cash in on Cannon’s impressive comedic skill-set, which helped the TV series 30 Rock achieve dizzying heights of success, and the Pitch Perfect film franchise earn more than $400 million in box office so far.
The Pact is written by Brian Kehoe and Jim Kehoe (Overachievers), with Deadline reporting that Eben Russell, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg also worked on the script. It is, unsurprisingly, a male-dominated story, focusing on three highly protective fathers, and their efforts to derail a pact made by their respective daughters, that would see them each lose their virginity on Prom night. While the plot sounds »

Cannon, who has worked as a writer on New Girl and was Emmy-nominated for 30 Rock, has penned the scripts for both of the films in the acapella-themed Pitch Perfect franchise and has signed on to write the third.
The Pact will follow a trio of parents who attempt to stop their respective daughters from fulfilling an American Pie-style “pact” to lose their virginities on prom night.
