In June 2001, Central America's largest prison break took place in the city of Esquintla., during fathers day, June 17th. The escape was linked to government corruption at the highest levels. The armed prisoners shot their way out of the prison and escaped in waiting cars. This institution, Guatemala's maximum security prison was popularly known as "Little Hell". In May 2004 our cameras were allowed inside the prison to document the startling transformation taking place with some of the regions most hardened criminals.
