Arquette An Unconvincing Villain In "The Cottage"

17 October 2012 5:07 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

Somewhere deep inside The Cottage, there is a genuinely shocking movie. Its set-up is unexceptional Hitchcock homage, but the conclusions that it takes its characters to are fairly unsettling. Unfortunately, it fails to make any of those conclusions at all credible, so the end result is fairly ridiculous. Part of that is due to the awkward writing, acting, and direction at every stage of the game, but another is the relative impossibility of buying David Arquette as a real threat.

After a tragic accident leaves them without a tenant for their place, Chloe (Kristen Dalton) and Michael (Victor Browne) Carpenter have little choice but to take in Robert Mars (Arquette) as a lodger for the little dwelling behind their house. Though he initially presents himself as a mild-mannered author of romance novels, his presence in their home takes on an ominous tone as he encroaches further into their personal space, »

New DVD Blu-Ray: 'Prometheus,' 'E.T.'

8 October 2012 11:59 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

Moviefone's New Release Pick of the Week "Prometheus" What's It About? Ridley Scott returns to the world of "Alien" with an epic prequel about mankind's first contact with a mysterious alien race who may or may not be our makers, and may or may not have sinister purposes. See It Because: "Prometheus" pulled off a rare feat, adding a new layer of intrigue to the rich mythology of the "Alien" series. Not since "Inception" has a summer blockbuster come along with such audacious head-scratching concepts. And despite being filled with plot holes, it was still fun to argue about the film's big questions. Also, the always brilliant Michael Fassbender was terrific as David, an android servant with T.E. Lawrence-sized dreams of exploration. Watch Noomi Rapace's Screen Test for "Prometheus" - (Also Available on Amazon Instant Video | Netflix) Moviefone's Blu-ray Pick of the Week "E.T.
