Storyline

Kerry Armstrong narrates this uplifting documentary that focuses on the resurgence of traditional Khmer music and dance through the dedication of three remarkable, Royal Palace-trained teachers. Filmed in Cambodia with the participation of Geraldine Cox and the orphans of the Sunrise Children's Villages, the documentary features a traditional music and dance performance by these talented children inside the National Museum of Cambodia, home to some of the most exquisite Khmer artworks. A sequence filmed with the children inside the temple-city of Angkor Wat highlights the extraordinary legacy of Khmer culture to the world of art. Through the reminiscences of Sunrise Village's inspirational teachers, Sunrise Over Angkor paints a succinct picture of Cambodia's disruptive past; and, through the eyes of Geraldine's amazing children, conveys an understanding of their hopes for a brighter future.
