"He thinks you can fix the future." Along with last night's new TV spot for Jurassic World, a new TV spot for Tomorrowland from director Brad Bird also played during the season finale of "The Walking Dead," and it's now online. This one shows some new footage that wasn't seen in the most recent Us trailer, but did appear in the completely different Japanese trailer that has since been taken offline. Britt Robertson is pegged as being the key to saving the future by George Clooney, though Hugh Laurie seems to be a bit skeptical. What's that cool gun that blasts through a comic book shop? We'll have to wait and see. Watch! Here's the first TV spot for Brad Bird's Tomorrowland from the film's Facebook page: (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js. »

Cannes: New Movies From Pixar, Woody Allen Expected at 68th Film Festival

26 March 2015 11:55 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

There are still three weeks to go before the Cannes Film Festival unveils its official-selection lineup, but so far, the latest Pixar 3D animated extravaganza and new films from Woody Allen, Todd Haynes, Jeff Nichols, Denis Villeneuve and Arnaud Desplechin appear to be securing their positions in the event’s 68th annual edition (May 13-24).

In keeping with his longtime habit of avoiding festival accolades, Allen will likely receive an out-of-competition berth for his 45th feature, “Irrational Man,” starring Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone (who starred in the director’s “Magic in the Moonlight”). Among other U.S. fare, Cannes will get an early start on the summer blockbuster season with Disney/Pixar’s feature toon “Inside Out,” marking a second trip to the Croisette for director Pete Docter (who co-helmed with Ronaldo Del Carmen) after his “Up” opened the festival in 2009. As already announced, George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road, »

Today's MPAA ratings bulletin brings a couple of notable titles beginning with Brad Bird's Tomorrowland starring George Clooney, which has scored a PG-rating, which isn't exactly a surprise, but an interesting rating given this era of PG-13 blockbusters as there is clearly a hope of appealing to the family audience with this one. Also from the Disney ranks comes the latest animated Pixar feature, Inside Out, which also scored a PG-rating while the short film Lava that will play in front of the film received a to-be-expected G-rating. Fox Searchlight's Sundance acquisition Me and Earl and the Dying Girl landed a PG-13 rating while the R-ratings were reserved for the likes of Russell Crowe's directorial debut The Water Diviner, the upcoming thriller Unfriended, Noah Baumbach's latest with Greta Gerwig Mistress America, and Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden's latest, Mississippi Grind. Japanese 'Tomorrowland' Trailer Shows Tons More New Footage

12 March 2015 9:12 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"What would happen if all the geniuses actually decided to change the world?" If the most recent trailer for Tomorrowland was still a little too mysterious to convince you to see the movie, then this new trailer from Japan should do the trick. It's comprised almost entirely of footage not seen in the latest Us trailer, explaining much more of the story, including who gives Britt Robertson the pin we've seen in the trailers, and some talk from Kathryn Hahn and Keegan-Michael Key about Disney's actual Tomorrowland and how the geniuses and inventors in the theme park's attraction tie in to this fantasy, future world. If you're already convinced to see this movie, I wouldn't watch this trailer though, so it's entirely up to you. Watch? Here's the Japanese trailer for Brad Bird's Tomorrowland (via Film Divider): You can still watch the latest Us trailer for Tomorrowland right here. »

Watch: Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison & Walt Disney Pop Up In Japanese Trailer For Brad Bird's 'Tomorrowland'

12 March 2015 8:23 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

A couple years ago, when "Tomorrowland" was still a completely mysterious project in the hands of Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof, there were quite a few rumors swirling around. One of them, was that Nikola Tesla — or at least his ideas and concepts — would appear in the movie. Alas, we won't know until the movie opens, but this new Japanese trailer for the film certainly does suggest that the filmmakers are drawing upon history's biggest thinkers as a key part of the movie. Kicking off with a promo for the "It’s a Small World" theme park attraction, the trailer then dives headlong into the movie, but pauses in the middle when a voice (Keegan-Michael Key?) asks: "What would happen if all the geniuses actually decided to try and change the world?" before flashing Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, and Walt Disney himself across the screen. And indeed, our own Disney expert, »

Disney released the first full-length trailer for Tomorrowland earlier this week. While it revealed quite a bit about the mysterious storyline, it seems there's even more we still don't know about this sci-fi adventure from director Brad Bird. A new international trailer has debuted for the summer release, which stars George Clooney. And it contains quite a bit of new footage that explores the story even further.

Bound by a shared destiny, a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as Tomorrowland. Bird has gathered a great team behind the lens with Oscar winning director of photography Claudio Miranda, production designer Scott Chambliss, Oscar&#174 nominated costume designer Jeffrey Kurland and Academy Award&#174-winning editor Walter Murch.

Britt Robertson of ‘Tomorrowland’ Named CinemaCon’s ‘Star of Tomorrow’

11 March 2015 12:12 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Britt Robertson has been dubbed an actress to watch by theater owners.

The “Tomorrowland” star will receive the “Star of Tomorrow” award at CinemaCon, the annual exhibition industry trade show taking place this April in Las Vegas.

Robertson is a new face on the film scene, but that could change if “Tomorrowland” connects with audiences when it debuts on May 22. The fantasy film also stars George Clooney and is directed by Brad Bird (“Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol”). The plot remains a closely guarded secret, but the talent attached make the film one to watch.

Robertson will next appear alongside Scott Eastwood in “The Longest Ride,” which will be released April 10. She is best known for starring in the CW network’s “Life Unexpected” and “The Secret Circle,” and CBS’ “Under the Dome.” Other film credits include “Delivery Man,” “Dan in Real Life” and “Cake.”
