- While on vacation in Turkey, Auggie suspects that he has found the Iraqi target who was responsible for his war injuries.
- In Istanbul for the annual jazz festival and horizontal fun with a flight attendant, Auggie is startled to recognize in the crowd an unforgettable voice. It's Nasir alias Khani, from the card deck of most wanted Saddam officials, who he assumed having killed in a ruthless pursuit which cost the lives of his boys and his eyesight when he was till a US Army special forces captain. Annie finds out from his sister that he is alive, but expected to turn over invaluable information on a whole A Qaeda-branch to the FBI team which worked on the case for years. Auggie planned vengeance, but should dutifully just see his nemesis defect to the US government's side.—KGF Vissers
- Annie (Piper Perabo) calls Auggie (Christopher Gorham) at the start of his vacation with is very important business. She needs to know the name of the salad she likes in the cafeteria.
As Auggie is talking to her on his bluetooth, he's on a plane, trying to find a place to fit his luggage. He's going to the jazz festival in Istanbul. The sexy stewardess, Veronica, (Rebecca Mader) helps him out and makes a date for later.
In Istanbul, he gets an oyster seaside and explores a mosque, remembering what it looks like. He listens to everything around him. There's a parade of jazz musicians going through the city.
He says hi to an old friend setting up one of the stages. He wants to set up his recording equipment to capture the experience. He takes in a concert, standing with the crowd.
Back in his hotel, he listens to the recording while the naked stewardess sits in his bed. She thinks he's a music journalist and sound engineer. As he's listening to the tape, he recognizes a voice in the crowd. It's the man who blinded him.
He plays the tape again and again to be sure.
Flash back to 2007 US forward Operating Base, Baghdad
He tells the stewardess about life on the base, including football in the sand.
Cut to a montage of shirtless dudes, including Auggie, playing.
He gets called in to see the general, who tells him they've found a high level terrorist. He's sending Auggie's men out after him.
Auggie tells us about the idea of working as a unit and rising in moments of crisis.
Auggie calls Annie at Langley. He wants a favor. He tells her it's something he forgot to look up. He gives her the name of a Kurd named Khani and asks her to confirm he's dead. He asks her not to tell Joan (Kari Matchett).
Back at the festival, Auggie asks his friend for additional recordings from a mike set up above the stage.
Annie runs a search and gets an alert telling her a file has been removed. Without knowing what she's looking for, Joan suggests Annie check the file tree -- checking the files around the one removed.
Annie tells Auggie that Khani was removed from the database, but she found his sister lives in Baltimore. Annie has a day off. He asks her to go.
Auggie listens to the additional recording. The stewardess joins him, fresh from the shower. He tells her he needs her to be his eyes, but can't necessarily tell her why. She's game.
They walk through a street market, where he identifies sounds, including rain. It's from a rain stick. Auggie tells her the man holding it is the other voice on the tape.
Back in Iraq, 67 kilometers from Tikrit, Auggie and his unit drive. His driver Billy (Jeff Pangman) plays jazz.
They stop when a man on the road blocks their path with his goats. They see what looks like a dead dog in the road. Auggie tells Nassir to check it out with him. They talk to the old man and give him some money.
Nassir says not to take another step. He shoots at the dead dog. Land mines explode all around it in the distance. They get back in the humvee to look for another way to Tikrit.
Auggie and his stewardess tail the rainmaker in a car. He's driving a super fancy Mercedes, clearly not something he could afford on a merchant's earnings.
In Baltimore, Annie goes to see Layla Khani for a manicure. She talks about her sister to get Layla to mention her sibling. She says her brother is dead.
Annie leaves Auggie a message. Outside, a black SUV pulls up next to her. It'sFBI Agent Rossabi (Noam Jenkins). He tells her to get in. She continues not being CIA. He tells Annie that Layla has been informing on her brother for three years. He's been targeting American forces overseas. He's not dead.
Rossabi mentions a special forces unit even went after him during the war. Annie takes note.
Auggie and his stewardess follow the rainmaker until he goes into a café. Auggie puts a bug on her and sends her in to order a coffee and get the lay of the land.
Back in 2007, Auggie's unit reaches Tikrit. They pull up to a building, with kids and women outside. It's the Jack of Diamond's safehouse. Before they can get out, they take fire from above. Billy is killed.
They get out and fire back, but the shooters have better positions. Another member is hit in the leg.
Auggie asks for cover and makes a run for the house as the shooting from above continues.
Inside, Auggie creeps quietly through the house. A man fires at him from the top of stairs. Auggie shoots back and hits him. Another appears and he takes him out, too.
Auggie makes it to the roof and takes out the shooter. He compares the picture he has of the terrorist and confirms it's the right guy.
Back in Istanbul, Auggie listens to the rainmaker tell another man, Khani, everything is set for the cargo and his flights, eventually leading to Washington.
Auggie calls Annie, who tells him about the FBI. She knows it was his special forces unit who went after him.
He apologizes for everything he's put her through, but says there's something he has to do. He says good-bye, which strikes Annie as odd.
Annie goes to Joan, telling her about the favor she did for Auggie and how that led to the FBI. She confirmed Auggie is going to a town with one airport and a cargo flight leaving for Lima. She's worried Auggie is up to something. She tells Joan the terrorist's name. She knows it.
Back in 2007, Auggie hears a terrorist say over the walkie talkie he's setting the trap. He sees someone throw something under his humvee, where his guys are. He races downstairs and runs at them, screaming they have to get away. He's running at it as it explodes in a giant fireball. Everything goes black.
Back in Istanbul, Auggie preps for his solo mission. His stewardess got the airplane specs from a stewardess friend, who says the cargo is textiles and carpets. She reads him plane measurements.
Annie meets with Rossabi, asking, hypothetically, if they have enough evidence to prosecute the terrorist if he ends up on US soil. He assures her they do. They follow up all anonymous tips. She tells him to wait by the phone.
Auggie says good-bye to his stewardess Veronica, making plans to meet up with her again in a month in Barbados. Her phone rings. It's a blocked call -- from Annie. Veronica thinks it's Auggie's wife.
She tells him not to do what he's about to. She tells him the FBI has enough evidence to prosecute the terrorist, shutting down his network. They're ready to reroute the plane to Washington. She tells him this is what they do. He says it's too late and hangs up.
Veronica lets him into the airport hanger. He thanks her and heads out. He climbs into the cargo hold.
Inside, Auggie puts on headphones and uses a super sensitive mike to listen to the cargo hold. It's filled with giant crates, covered with tarps. He hears metal clanking together and walks down the aisle, feeling his way. He stops when he hears someone breathing. He turns up the mike and listens.
We see a man sitting in one of the crates.
Auggie throws something down with the sounds of gunfire. The man runs. Auggie waits in the aisle and tackles him. They grapple back and forth, with the man recognizing Auggie and getting the better of him. He throws Auggie around. He soon realizes Auggie can't see.
Auggie tackles him and throws him over his shoulder, then on the ground. He punches him and holds his head down. Auggie takes out his knife and raises it over his head, but then sheaths it and settles for just punching the man again.
Dulles Airport The plane lands and FBI vehicles race up. The terrorist comes rolling limply out of the cargo hold.
Joan and Annie watch a live feed as the FBI collects their cargo and drives off. They watch Auggie walk out of the cargo hold.
Back in 2007, we see Auggie receive the Purple Heart. He never told anyone because he wasn't happy about being injured and losing his friends to earn it. He tells Annie. She assures him he did the right thing.
He tells her even though he's blind, he still remembers every detail of that picture one day after playing football. He carries it, even though he can't see. He shows it to Annie.
