I didn't see the first series. But this seems not to get in the way.
It's a police/crime/mystery genre with a long turn plot and serial episodes. The story follows a police woman in a technical unit that specialize and works in the background to help provide information handling and identification of suspects.
The main leads is transferred in from another and learns very slowly. She is persistent and considers the human aspects of each scenario. Maybe not as technically proficient but more considerate (but yet can be a hindrance).
The cases are More flashy with the technical and espionage side and More teamwork involved then other police procedural. A good break.
The long term plot is over dramatic to some degree about a master manipulator with just as good counter-intelligence tactics. But kind of over the top a bit for my tastes. However, it ties the first story toeghter rather well in some sense. And seems like they are lining the path for a possible 3rd season... man.
