Warning: Spoilers
The tenth episode of "Highschool of the Dead" might be the darkest yet. For a show with so much death and violence, it's actually been pretty light-hearted most of the way, with occasional detours into darkness along the way, eg. The scene where Alice's dad is murdered. But this whole episode was a downer.

The theme of the episode seems to be the gap between adolescence and adulthood. So far, the only real adult character in the anime has been the slimy, unctuous Mr Shido, who we haven't seen in ages. The rest of the cast have all been very capable.

Now, however, they are finally at Saya's house and are staying with her parents, who live in a mansion which also doubles as a military style compound, with soldiers surrounding them. The youths are repeatedly dismissed by the adults as being too young and incapable to do whatever they want to do, so I guess they're left with nothing.

The episode begins in a bizarre pre-credits sequence, where Rei is nude and the other characters apparently intend to rub ointment onto her naked body.

It also ends in a shocking way, with a post-credit sequence foreshadowing the return of the evil teacher Mr Shido, showing freeze-frames of him groping the breasts and bottoms of the girls who chose to follow him, and another shot of them pressing their tongues together.

This episode wasn't as enjoyable as many of the others. I don't know if that's because it was darker and more depressing. We're almost at the end of the show, and the third-last episodes of anime series are often slower, I've noticed, setting up the climax. That post-credit sequence did exactly what it was supposed to, though, and now I'm anxiously anticipated the ending of "Highschool of the Dead".
