Leaving The Religious
17 December 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

In the fifth episode entitled Paul,we get to know another nun known as Sister Paul. She presented as someone who is completely happy with her religious vocation at Santo Spirito and is believed to have no regrets whatsoever in her chosen life.

But one day,she unexpectedly ran into an old friend,Jack Delahunty, who happens to be a priest with an outspoken nature.Due to the radical beliefs that he has somehow absorbed during the changing times,it caused him to leave priesthood.Too bad that Sister Paul, who is the former Veronica Tierney, decided to leave her religious vocation as well after realizing that she still has feelings for Jack. The two decided to get married.

Adjustment towards life out of the convent became difficult for Veronica as she was sheltered inside the convent for many years as a nun. This made it difficult for her to deal with the realities of the outside world especially when she decides to teach in a Catholic's boy school. Her marriage proved to be difficult as well especially when her husband continues to preach about his radical beliefs particularly with what is wrong with the church.

In the end,she decide to go back to Santo Spirito. Many nuns welcome her with open arms.In the end,she is find great satisfaction in realizing that she will be serving God for the rest of her life.

This was definitely a touching episode of a person who left the religious and decided to still have God as part of her life.It will definitely go through one's emotion as a Catholic.Added to that,it was also one realization that one should not put away God's role in a person's life.Overall,I consider this one of the best episodes of the mini-series of not the best.
