Storyline

12-year-old Jessica Jones world is torn apart when she is taken out of her abusive home and placed in to Foster care. Jessica will grapple with her past, present, and future, and meet numerous struggles along the way. Her story is the reality of so many abuse victims in communities nationwide. The flashback scenes are from my own abusive childhood. I share these scenes with the hope that others in abusive situations will seek help for themselves and their abusers before it is too late. A well done film with a powerful message.
28 April 2014 | by (Salt Lake City, UT) – See all my reviews

A great film that has a powerful message about the harsh world of domestic abuse. Written over the course of an adopted young woman's life, she experiences first hand the emotional and physical abuse by her significant other while her foster parents try and save her. The filmmakers capture this message without being too preachy or heavy handed. The entire cast does a fantastic job of portraying the range of emotions that can occur in a domestic abuse situation. This film has done very well at numerous prestigious and local film festivals and having seen the film more than once myself, I can attest to the fact that those awards are deserved. Well written and directed, Begin Again is a film that is meant to be shared.
