Storyline

Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert review five new movies and recommend a video. Two thumbs down for the bleak futuristic thriller, Screamers (1995). Both critics have seen it all many times before. Two thumbs up for Ian McKellen's modernized Richard III (1995). They especially praise McKellen in the title role. A split vote on Bed of Roses (1996) with Christian Slater and Mary Stuart Masterson. Siskel's mixed but positive review praises the well-played and well-written lead female character; Ebert disliked both lead characters. Two thumbs up for the racial drama, Once Upon a Time... When We Were Colored (1995). Both critics enjoyed the richly emotional experience. Two thumbs up for the peculiar Angels and Insects (1995). They reserve particular praise for the costume design.
