Endemol Shine North America Inks Deal with Reality Producer Justin Hochberg

Reality producer Justin Hochberg, who was part of the launch team behind “The Apprentice” and “The Contender” franchises, has signed a multi-platform deal with Endemol Shine North America, Variety has learned.

Under the exclusive pact, Hochberg and his Just Entertainment Studio team will develop the “next generation of global TV formats,” plus digital content for the company.

“We’re excited to have Justin on our Endemol Shine team to develop the next generation of global TV formats and branded digital content,” Eden Gaha, president of unscripted television for Endemol Shine USA, announced Tuesday. “Justin’s a talented producer with the ability to bring together all of the elements that create major TV franchises.”

Hochberg commented, “The new Endemol Shine is more than a TV juggernaut. Having access to its digital platforms, talent, consumer products and global reach, has already begun paying dividends. I’ve never gotten bigger and better ideas sold faster. »

Charlie Ebersol Inks Overall Deal With Universal Cable Productions

Universal Cable Productions has signed an overall deal with reality television producer Charlie Ebersol.

The pact, announced Tuesday by Ucp exec vice president of development, Dawn Olmstead, marks the first-ever overall deal for Ebersol’s production banner The Company in scripted television.

With Ucp, Ebersol will venture further into scripted programming, developing and producing scripted series for NBCUniversal’s portfolio of networks, plus external and digital networks.

So, Castle viewers, it appears we are 2-for-2 thus far in the private eye arc.

Because whereas last week’s episode found much merriment in Rick’s very first case, one which pitted him against Beckett and the boys, this time around there was the entertaining wrinkle of him working his own case — the search for a telenovela star’s valuable purse — which was at first only tangentially, but then directly, related to the murder at hand.

Will Arnett is already plotting his post-Millers TV comeback.

The former Arrested Development star has been tapped to lead Flaked, a new comedy series for Netflix, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Arnett plays a self-appointed guru named Chip who inadvertently falls in love with his best friend’s crush.

Arnett will write Flaked with co-creator Mark Chappell (The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret). The two will executive-produce the series alongside Mitch Hurwitz (Arrested Development) and Peter Principato (Blask-ish).

Ordered for eight episodes, Flaked will premiere on Netflix in 2016.
