A no-serious comedy set in 1980 Tamil Nadu
19 September 2011 | by (India) – See all my reviews

Mallaiyapuram, a small famine-hit village near Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Year is 1980's. Village committee meets and decides to do the Azhagar festival, in which the famous god's idol (Azhagar) taken around the streets and do few ceremonies. The villager's are stunned to find the Azhagar's wooden horse is missing. Azhagar in Tamil Nadu has no meaning without the horse. Everyone is confused about the next actions. Finally they decide to invite a Kerala saint (a fake saint) to know the fortunes. All these time, somewhere near the village a man named Azhagar missed his white horse which is his only invaluable asset. Meanwhile, this lost horse is found by the Mallaiyapuram villagers and held at the temple for the ceremony. As per them, by god's grace, the wooden horse has come true to life. Azhagar finally comes to Mallaiyapuram and finds his horse. Villagers are not ready to give the horse as its a must for their festival, which they believe to fetch rain. And for Azhagar, its everything to him and his marriage too put on hold due to this. What's the mystery behind the wooden horse? Was Azhagar's marriage a success? are the remaining questions for which rest of the film answers. A true light weighted comedy. Mostly new faces in the movie is the big advantage to the film...
