Emily S. Whitten: Pro Cosplay Makeup with Jenna Morin!

1 November 2016 10:27 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

A month ago I shared the inside scoop on the exciting new comic-con on a cruise ship, Fan2Sea – where it came from, what it will offer, and why it sounds like, as Bender says, “Fun on a bun!” And the awesome fact that I will be going on the cruise and reporting back on that fun for everyone.

But you don’t have to wait until after the cruise to know more about what’s going to happen on it. In my continued coverage, I checked in with one of the many cool people who will be featured on the cruise, professional makeup artist Jenna Morin, to ask her about her work and what we can expect from her on board. She also gave me a bit of makeup and accessorizing advice for a cruise costume I’m working on. Read on for the Q&A!

Interview: Hell Town Writer/Director Steve Balderson

25 August 2016 1:36 AM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

I love horror as much as the next fright fanatic, but sometimes I need a breather and a few laughs help me get through my day. Hell Town really shakes things up (review) by providing a genre bending experience with a compilation of episodes from a lost TV soap opera surrounding a town that falls victim to a serial killer amidst relationship drama. The bodies pile up as the panties drop and Hell Town delivers a sexy escape that’ll keep you smiling. Writer/Director Steve Balderson took some time to chat about his latest film, while delivering some insight as what served as inspiration.

I really dug Hell Town. I thought it was super funny and actually kind of erotic in its own not so subtle ways. I wasn’t sure if it was due to my own personal tastes, but it felt like there was a higher emphasis »

Krisha and The Art of Filming Self-Destruction

5 May 2016 10:00 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

A movie that approaches and separates itself from a familiar storyline.

Self-destruction has been a popular cinematic theme since the silent era. One of the first examples being Charlie Chaplin’s The Cure from 1917, a film about a drunk who goes to a spa hoping to cure his addiction. Almost 100 years later, the most recent contribution to this popular narrative is Krisha, Trey Edward Shults’s first feature film. The film stems from Shults’s short film released the year prior titled Krisha, and, spanning over a single day, tells the story of a woman returning home after having disappeared for a number of years.

Krisha isn’t the first film to screen addiction, as stated above. To name a few movies of this genre: Miles Ahead (2016), Trainwreck (2015), Thanks for Sharing (2012), Shame (2011), Requiem for a Dream (2000), Man With a Golden Arm (1955), The Lost Weekend (1945), and Sadie McKee (1934). Yet since its festival circuit and (limited) release as of »

Amy Schumer Lashes Out at Glamour for Putting Her in 'Plus Size' Issue

6 April 2016 7:47 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

Amy Schumer picked up a copy of Glamour and saw she was in the magazine -- which may sound good in theory, but it was apparently dedicated to "plus size" women, and she was not happy to be included. Why? Because of her own size, and the message she feels it sends to other women and girls.

The "Trainwreck" and Comedy Central star shared an Instagram post on the subject, which was met with some interesting comments, some agreeing with her point and others challenging it.

Here's what she wrote, with a photo of the magazine cover:

"I think there's nothing wrong with being plus size. Beautiful healthy women. Plus size is considered size 16 in America. I go between a size 6 and an 8. @glamourmag put me in their plus size only issue without asking or letting me know and it doesn't feel right to me. Young girls seeing my body »

Amy Schumer Joins the Movement Against the Term 'Plus Size' After Slamming Glamour: 'We Are Done with These Unnecessary Labels'

5 April 2016 12:00 PM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Add Amy Schumer to the list of women who are done with being labeled by their size. After the comedian slammed Glamour magazine for including her in their "plus size" bonus issue sponsored by Lane Bryant, she tweeted that qualifying women with labels is pointless. "Thanks for sharing your thoughts everyone except the people who told me what I 'should feel' or what I 'should have focused on,' " Schumer tweeted. "Bottom line seems to be we are done with these unnecessary labels which seem to be reserved for women." Thanks for sharing your thoughts everyone except the people who »
