Arthur and Mike Review

27 June 2014 2:00 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Despite being two of the most gifted, sought-after actors in world cinema, it’s something of a surprise to see Colin Firth and Emily Blunt’s Arthur and Mike gain such a low-scale release, with little promotion behind director Dante Ariola’s star-studded, debut endeavour. However the further into this underwhelming picture you get the more apparent it becomes as to why this film has slipped under the radar somewhat, as despite those attached – Arthur and Mike is frustratingly, and overtly, unsubtle.

Firth plays Wallace Avery, a talented golfer who becomes disillusioned with life, and so one day decides to pack up, obtain a brand new identity (‘Arthur Newman’) and leave behind a wife and teenage son, without even the courtesy of a note. While he’s filed under the missing person register, he is in fact embarking on a road trip, seeking pastures new – before he stumbles across the »

Check Out Colin Firth And Emily Blunt In The ‘Arthur And Mike’ Trailer

11 June 2014 2:25 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

It should be a criminal offence to release films at such different times, but it looks like the latest flick from Colin Firth and Emily Blunt, titled Arthur And Mike, will finally be getting a UK release.

Firth plays the title character of Wallace Avery, who decides to fake his own death and start a new life as Arthur Newman. On his travels he meets Michaela (Blunt), who is more close to home than Arthur thinks - she is also maintaining a different identity. Written by Under The Cherry Moon and Seven Years In Tibet scribe Becky Johnston, the film made its debut at the Toronto Film Festival back in 2012, and the Us release followed early 2013. It is also the feature directorial debut from Dante Ariola.

We have to say, Firth and Blunt in one movie? Should be a match-made in heaven right? Check out the trailer below and make a judgement for yourself! »
