Storyline
Set in 2001 A decorated war veteran, facing the last days of his long life in a tiny house in the east end, takes solace in the visit of a soldier who has recently served in Afghanistan. A human connection with his grand-niece who comes to look after him and the reliving of his glory days eases him into death, finally to reunite with his fallen comrades. Based on a short story by Sherlock Holmes author, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Straggler of 45 deals with legacy and death, while taking a look at the changing landscape and opinion of armed conflict.
