One of the Worst Ever Awards Show for Daytime Emmys!
Sylviastel23 June 2011
Wayne Brady was fine as a host but the show's producers seemed more inclined to display the charitable acts regarding the Children's Hospital Fund and IHOP's contribution. Even though Oprah won a special Emmy Award, she wasn't there in person to pick up. Her acceptance speech came taped from the Oprah Winfrey Show. This awards special didn't even acknowledge All My Children and One Life to Live's final year on the air. The show seemed to steer away from mentioning the end of the daytime dramas. There were some nice moments but still there was the elephant in the room when it comes to the future of soaps. In the younger actor and actress category, there were only three nominees in each. I predict that will be gone by next year. Best Actor Winner Michael Park wasn't there because he's on Broadway in a musical with Daniel Radcliffe. There were some surprises like Young and Restless winning the best writing award. In fact, I was shocked by that decision in itself. Now, we'll never get rid of Maria Arena Bell whose dragging the show into the gutter. There were no remembrances to pay tribute too. Alex Trebek and Pat Sajack received their lifetime Emmys. No awards besides game shows and television talk shows were mentioned. I know that the daytime Emmys has plenty of other awards but they didn't mention who won them at all. Maybe Daytime Emmys should return to the afternoon as they once had before where they had them in a luncheon style at a New York City hotel but those days are gone, long gone.
