another provocative Law & Order Organized Crime episode
whoneedsascreenname16 April 2022
Another terrific OC episode, written by Rick Marin who has penned some of the series' best.

Before we go further, gotta ask Law & Order casting directors, "Is it really that hard to find genuine New Yorkers in New York to play New Yorkers?"

Jen Jacob, as the wife of Donnelly (Denis Leary) - not an insignificant role - seems to be a competent actress but her attempt at a NY dialect is fingernails-on-chalkboard. Takes viewers right out of the moment. Total integrity-killer for a show like this.

That aside, lots of good stuff in this ep including continuity links to SVU's "Swing" (season 10, Oct. 2008, in which Ellen Burstyn is seen as Bernie Stabler for the first time).

Burstyn, an Emmy winner for this role, has been pretty spectacular in all her various OC appearances, and is extra-killer in "Change The Game." Protect her at all costs.

Jennifer Beals is also tops in this one. But the quiet moment between Stabler and Jet (Ainsley Sieger), and Stabler's musings on marriage are what make this episode kinda special.

Also, Leary and Meloni's scenes busting in on a hooker and tormenting an art dealer, should both go down in L&O lore as two of the franchise's top no-knocks.

Finally, can never leave out Danielle Mone Truitt as Bell; god she's fantastic.

Change the Game

Warning: Spoilers
A good, goofy fight scene, but Stabler's behavior is a little irrational with him continuing to go in blind to all of these dangerous situations. The show continues to be one of the best dramas on broadcast TV.

Great Episode

Gritty and typical Stabler at his best. The villian is so perfect in his role as a ruthless gun trafficler with a soft smart wife...It will be very interesting to follow her and Stablers story arc. The ffranchise is really good with this type of writing. The rest of the cast are also good in there roles.

Fantastic!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was filled with action-packed scenes, plot twists and mysteries. I really enjoyed the scene where Stabler was talking to Santos while he was in prison and still keeping his cover.

I'm starting to really like Jennifer Beals as Cassandra Webb. She makes me suspicious and I want to see what her next moves are. I really like Mykelti Williamson, Denis Leary and Antino Kamenwati's characters as Preston Webb, Frank Donnelly and Hugo Bankole. Real fun episode! Hope this gets renewed for Season 3!

Logic has left the building

Warning: Spoilers
In the previous installment, much ado was made about planting a wire in a heist vehicle to gather evidence against the brotherhood. Once the heist was being planned, there were people listening in. Once the heist was being carried out and the aftermath, suddenly no one no longer cared about the wire they took so much trouble to plant. Additionally, it is never mentioned again, but suddenly, one of the brotherhood is arrested (on what evidence is also not mentioned) and the storyline is rushed to the results of the aftermath by way of confession, rather than the physical recording of what had actually occurred in the heist vehicle, which, for some bizarre and completely illogical reason, no one had bothered to listen to. I suppose that would be too forensic. As in, admissible in court. Instead they rely on hearsay testimony, which, I predict will be inadmissible by way of sudden death or some other ill-conceived contrivance. This was thought of on April 16, 2022 and submitted April 17, 2022. Not connected to the show in any way, shape or form. I suppose the writers couldn't make room for plausible explanations due to the insurgence of soap opera elements insisted upon by people who think that viewers prefer that over reality based storylines. They'll say it increases the tension. It increases the stupidity. Like many police dramas before it, it has now gone the way of wokoperas. One of the best sequel shows has become unbearable.
