Clip -- A rebellious teenager's relentless exploration of her newfound sexuality is the theme to this bold and very explicit drama by Maja Milos. Fourteen-year-old Jasna escapes life in a dreary Belgrade suburb with her critically ill father and a nagging mother by entering into a world of drug and alcohol-filled parties, always recording the debauchery in clips on her cell phone.

First of, the name of the movie has nothing to do with the actual plot, 1 September 2013
Author: Darko Paligoric from Serbia

Let me paraphrase, not that it has nothing to do with it, it's just that the whole act of filming everything around her doesn't contribute to the story. It isn't part of a bigger picture, it's just there for the sake of it. The characters, they are all one-dimensional... I'm not sure if i can call them characters since all they do is do some property damage, drown their liver in alcohol, use some unspecific drugs (probably heroin, it was never addressed) and screw around. No character traits, warm bodies, that's better description. Later on in the movie we get something that resembles a character when main protagonist Jasna encounters one orphan but by then it's too late and in the next minute we're back to what we were at. Some continuity errors around their age i wouldn't even look as a mistake since i'm probably the only one to notice the fact that she is suppose to be 14 years old and yet learns from the chemistry notebook from elementary school and yet they have to go and take care of orphans, spend quality time with them like they had years of preparation and not just one year of high school education. Character of Djole, even worse, his character traits begin and end with three simple things: 1.He likes to engage you know what kind of intercourse (IMDb finds the word offensive) with Jasna. 2. He has unlimited supply of unspecific narcotics. 3. He likes to play World of Warctraft. Overall it's really bad interpretation of youth not just in Serbia but everywhere, all the adults are dumb as living hell, all the subplots are forced and instead of using that to build character about Jasna they make one stupid little... Flawed as hell in every way, and to make it even worse it ends in such way that makes Djole even greater douche and Jasna even greater dumb... and thus giving them some character traits. OK, enough of that... By listening to few interviews with the director you can really tell that her heart was on a right place but just didn't spend much time thinking... But didn't it ever occur to her that maybe kids on those infamous clips were just messing around and doing things on a camera just for the l.o.l.z (why was that word a problem, nobody knows)? I would know, been there, done that... There are way better ways to use that concept, why not make them pay for what they did (if those were real places they would have been caught for sure, there are cameras everywhere nowadays...)... So many possibilities, i always like to look back at A Clockwork Orange when it comes to youth movies (may not seem like it but Alex is 15 in that movie and the book). When ever i see that movie i find something different, that movie is like a virus that when you expose your self to it it will get inside your head and spread like weed. Every next time you will catch something new and find it brilliant on a whole new level. This movie is also like virus, and it also imprints on you in a big way and you will be under impression way after you saw it. Nobody can deny that, whether you like it or not. I know that all of you deeply want to believe that all of you children are dumbest life forms out there, and they are (some of the dumbest people i have ever had a chance to talk to are around that age), but this is miss representation of youth in Serbia... Sure, not that there are not these self destructing kids but it's one in five hundred, not whole generation. Not even that would be a problem if they actually took the time to explain the characters. Alex in A Clockwork Orange isn't any better but he is a character and someone i can believe in, and Malcolm McDowell is weirdly charismatic in the role. It really is a shame, those clips could have played way bigger role in the movie and they mess it up. Now i'm just repeating myself and if i continue talking I'll just end up 'spoiling' the damn thing, and as much as i'd like that maybe you will like that. If you were expecting some real suspense, some character analysis in a way that you get into protagonists world through those clips and then at the end you get blown away... Well this ain't that movie, this is the movie that sake sex for the sake of having it. 4 out of 10.
