S03E01: A Great Way to Start the Season!

Warning: Spoilers
My Reaction / Review for Superman & Lois Season 3 Episode 1: Watching a new actor playing Jonathan hurts, I don't like it at all, I really hope he is good though, ill have to watch him in more episodes to judge. I like that Jordan can fly like a badass now. Jordan is trapped in the friendzone, ouch, this is bad. Lois is pregnant? Damn, how many kids will this family have? Dylan Walsh is so amazing, im so happy he will be part of season 3, he makes every scene awesome. I think having a 3rd kid in the family could be interesting watching Lois and Clark dealing with this new ''problem''. Also it would be hard for Clark to do superhero stuff and have some balance with a new baby. Who are these villains though? Im curious.

Previously they mentioned Lex Luthor, do they work for him or is it something else? The fight scenes with the bad guy were really good, the special effects too. Wait, Lois isnt pregnant? So what is happening, is she sick? Chad L. Coleman is the villain? I remember him from the Walking Dead where he was a really cool character. So the villains we saw previously work for him right? Ok for me this episode was a great way to start this season. It didn't have much action (fight scenes) but not all episodes need action to be cool. Still trying to get used to a different actor playing Jonathan. Judging from this episode I think this new actor is ok but im not really excited about him. Cant wait for more episodes, I hope this season is the best so far. My rating is 8.3/10.

Good start to the new season but.

The new season starts to show some cracks in the show. First, and probably just nit-picky, the new Jon Kent is throwing me off. I'm used to the old one.

Not bad, all considered. But focusing on family drama is taking away from the "big bad, superheroes unite" feeling of the first 2 seasons. I'm sure it'll get better, but right now I'm expecting a big bad to emerge quickly.

Is the boss of Inter-gang the big bad? Not sure. Not sure I care either.

The next few episodes better step up the stakes big-time or s3 might be the last season.

I'm sure they'll do something to pull out of it, but unless they do, I don't see watching Jon learn to drive & Jordan learn to be Superboy being riveting TV.

Fine episode but weak season premiere.

Warning: Spoilers
It's really hard to say anything bad about this episode because it worked but it felt more like a filler than a big premiere.

They balanced the screentime of the different characters well. Clark and Lois were the main focus but everyone else from the show's way too big supporting cast had something to do.

The very brief Superman action sequences looked great, but the episode didn't really set up much for the season, or at least nothing mindblowing. The cliffhanger (if it even counts as a cliffhanger) just didn't get me hyped. I didn't get that "can't wait to see the next episode" feeling that the first season managed to pull off each week.

As for the new Jonathan Kent. He didn't really had that much to do here, but it still felt wrong. Especially the "bonding" scene between Jon and Jordan felt awkward. Just didn't feel the connection between those two, hopefully it will get better with time. It's never easy to fill the shoes of an other actor, so I hope he will live up to the challenge.

Could be better

Warning: Spoilers
Ok, I have totally binged this serious and the actor who has portrayed Jonathon Kent was fantastic. Nothing against the actor recast in series three, but it was wrong to recast the character, the actor portraying Jonathon for the first two seasons did an excellent job and they should have either retired him until such time as he could have returned, or just retired his character altogether.

I understand he didn't come back for mental health reasons - if you are the actor reading this, you did a fantastic job and are a fantastic actor who played the role brilliantly. The writers however, obviously this is a comic book story, there are things you can get away with - but replacing this bloke after doing such a brilliant job wasn't one of them. Should have found a middle ground to bring him back, or retired the character altogether. Salute to the original actor, I wish you the very best going forward in your career.

Just no, so many things are wrong with this.. its just a no!
Honodi2 April 2023
Let's start with the absolute Obvious, How does Warner not realize that you do not change actors for the same character mid show. I understand the old Actor had to leave, but you work around it, you let the character die, send them on a trip, make them disappear in another dimension or just come up with anything that explains the absence, but you don't just stick another actor in. But who am i saying this about: DC, who has at any given time a multitude of actors playing the same character within their universe, which is one of the biggest reasons in my opinion that DC cannot get out of the viewer slump they are in. Dc simply has no Character Brand control. Which brings us to the next problem, the Story.. and i won't spoil i will just say it finally after 2 decent seasons , reached the CW standard level of mindless, inconsistent, unrealistic and painful to watch. And thats just the story, the dialogues could as well come from a fledgling infant AI , except they would sound more believable. I don't know what happened between Season 2 ending and Season 3 starting, but the show went from "pretty good" to "utter trash".

First two seasons were good. Third season is LOIS HAS CANCER
steve-257519 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
No superheroes. Practically no action. Just sad CANCER treatments. Got a few episodes in and abandoned this crap. This is NOT about Superman. It's about a woman dying and a family grieving. Watch Grays anatomy or some hospital show of you want that. They do it better.

Superman actually says that even if Kryptonian science could cure cancer that he can't risk the implications for Earth. What terrible writing and total disregard for Superman's ideals and principles.

If this show can survive the terrible season, maybe they will come up with something interesting in the future but trust me, skip season three.
