Storyline

Dexter is in awe of the latest display from the Doomsday killer: the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse made up of mannequins and human body parts. Testing confirms that the human parts all came from the same body. Deb Morgan, in her capacity as the new Lieutenant in homicide, holds her first press conference which she concludes did not go well. She is certainly very blunt. Meanwhile, Geller is unhappy with Travis' decision to go on a date with a pretty waitress. There's a price to pay for that. Dexter has a family crisis when Harrison has a burst appendix. Back in the lab, Masuka finally learns what Ryan has been up to. Written by garykmcd

Quotes

[first lines]
Brother Sam: [baptizing] Do you undertake to keep God's commandments, and faith of His son, our Lord.
Nick: I do.
Dexter Morgan: [narrating] Some people think that religion began as a way for primitive cultures to explain natural phenomena. the fire, the wind, the rain. They created a god for each one.
Brother Sam: I baptize you, my brother, in Christ. You are baptized with Christ in death.
Dexter Morgan: [narrating] You'd think science would have made religion obsolete. But it hasn't. Go for a swim, come out a new man. If only I believed it ...

To the reviewer before me, you are watching a show about a brutal serial killer who also works with the police and you complain about graphic violence? It's like watching The Walking Dead and complaining about zombies! why don't you watch Glee? No graphic violence there, I promise...

I think this episode was amazing. As always, the quality of the whole show is superb, the dialog, how events slowly unfold, the casting is great specially Brother Sam and Anderson, both really promising this season. The religious theme is a great choice considering Dexter's "hobby", and that Harrison is getting older and he can't let his dark passenger influence H's life.

I really like Debra as Lieutenant, everyone expects her to work fine at the job, since she always does, and is compromised to the extreme, but it is nice to see how she handles these challenges.
