As a character-focused episode, Dr. Martha Masters appears in every scene.
This is the third time we have heard "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by the Rolling Stones since the pilot episode.
When House mentions turning blue after eating magical gum, this is a reference to events in the novel "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl, which a few years earlier had a new film version, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005). During the factory tour, Violet Beauregarde took a piece of Magic Gum without listening to any warnings. As a result, she turned into a blueberry and had to be taken to the Juicing Room to be squeezed before she exploded.
One inconsistency happens when Masters tells the patient that she was a college freshman at age 13. In her first appearance in S7E6, "Office Politics," Cuddy tells House that Masters graduated high school at age 15.
At the beginning of the previous episode, House states that because Thirteen spent time in prison, she had her medical license suspended. However, in this episode, she performs doctor duties and is also responsible for supervising Masters (which she couldn't do with a suspended medical license). Yet, when Masters walks up on Thirteen and House in the ER, House says, "I got you your license back." The real mistake is House getting her license back over the weekend.
