An outstanding episode of Tombstone Territory. "The Governor" is directed by and co-stars William Conrad (he directed six total episodes of this TV show). Actor Robert F. Simon is superbly cast as Governor Armstrong of The Arizona Territory. Sheriff Clay Hollister must outwit the cruel, vindictive Frank Banter (William Conrad) in order to free the Governor, and himself. Along with the gunfire and suspense, viewers are treated to a minor history lesson on the use of the Heliograph by the U.S. Army Signal Corp to telegraph messages across vast distances, using reflected solar light.
