Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert review five new movies. Two thumbs up for the confident action picture, Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997), although Ebert thinks Sandra Bullock has too little to do. Two more thumbs up for the newsreel-like realism of Broken English (1996) about Croatian refugees in New Zealand. Two thumbs up yet again for Victor Nunez's Ulee's Gold (1997) with Peter Fonda as a Florida beekeeper and Vietnam veteran trying to protect his family. Two thumbs down for Wedding Bell Blues (1996), the amateurish comedy about women who each bets that she can get married in a night. A split decision on the Chinese epic, Temptress Moon (1996). Both agree that it is difficult to follow, but only Siskel believes it is worth following. Gene Siskel's "Video Pick of the Week" is Ruby in Paradise (1993), an earlier movie by director Nunez.
