Giant Insects Attack Coachella in Insane Dead Ant Trailer

15 September 2017 12:08 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The trailer for Dead Ant is here and it looks like a classic monster movie mixed with Spinal Tap. The movie is a comic reimagining of the sci-fi classic of Them!. The B-movie vibe is laid on extra thick in the new trailer that features Sean Astin tripping out on Peyote and Tom Arnold pulling out a gun to shoot a giant ant after explaining that he carries the gun because he's in the music business. If that doesn't make you want to watch the movie, who knows what will. The impressive cast looks like they had a blast making Dead Ant and the soundtrack is stuffed with fake 80s metal adding to the fun.

The story starts when the "one-hit-wonder" glam-metal band "Sonic Grave" embark on a trip to Coachella in hopes of a comeback, but end up in No-Chella since their manager couldn't book them for the official »

Predator with Nes Contra Sounds Is Exactly Why the Internet Rules

2 September 2017 8:54 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Everybody loves 1987's Predator and a lot of people enjoy the Nintendo game Contra. So, why not put the two of them together? That's exactly what the RetroSFX YouTube channel wondered and so they actually did it and it's exactly what we need in our lives right now. Mashups are nothing new, but sometimes they work together just perfectly. We've seen the Muppets singing Beastie Boys songs all the way to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mixed with Reservoir Dogs to amazing results, but somehow Predator and Contra are just meant to be together in way that you just have to see to believe.

The crew over at RetroSFX specialize in doing mashups with beloved movies and typically Nintendo Entertainment System games with varying results, but Contra and Predator work together way better than they should. The video starts with some of the theme to Contra while Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer »

Though it saddens me to report that legendary casting and voice acting director Andrea Romano will be retiring this week, I'm glad we get to celebrate her incredible career together. If you've seen a cartoon or animated home movie in the last 30 years and found yourself remarking on the quality of the voice acting and the cast, chances are Romano had a hand in its making. Just this week alone, I saw her name pop up in the credits for the new season of Voltron Legendary Defender, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Niko and the Sword of … »

Emily S. Whitten: Nickelodeon, Squishy Seats… and Me!

21 July 2017 10:00 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

Recently I had the opportunity to visit the Nickelodeon Animation Studio and their new Entertainment Lab in Burbank, CA. I chatted with Chris Young, Senior Vice President for the Entertainment Lab; Chris Savino, creator of The Loud House; and Farnaz Esnaashari-Charmatz, creator of Shimmer and Shine. I played around in their newly developed immersive and interactive Vr experience; sat in on a recording session for Shimmer and Shine; stopped in to say hi to Ciro Nieli, executive producer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and see his cool office; and viewed all kinds of creativity in progress during the studio tour.

And let me tell you: the experience was awesome.

As in, so awesome, I’m wondering how Alternate Me could get a job there. Because let’s be honest – there are office jobs that look like The Office, and then there are workplaces like Nickelodeon, which has slime stairs, a SpongeBob wall, »

‘Adventure Time’ Is Slowly Going Off the Air, And Everyone’s Moving On

24 February 2017 12:16 PM, PST | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Adventure Time” has a long way to go, but in many ways, it already ended. In early February 2017, just a few months after Cartoon Network notified the team behind its most surprising breakout hit that the show was canceled, the cast finished their last round of voice work. The final episodes were written, and the saga of Finn and Jake in the magical, post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo came to a close as the cast and crew scattered to new projects. The fruits of their labor will gradually unfurl on Cartoon Network until 2018 — although the timing remains uncertain. Fans must wait for the slow march to the finale, but the creative team is moving on.

“It was bittersweet,” said head writer Kent Osborne, recalling the last day of recording. “A lot of shows don’t last this long, but this felt different because it was just so popular.”
