Best of 2013 (Behind the Scenes): How a 'Sharknado' happens
On Saturday, July 11, a perfect storm hit Twitter in the form of Syfy’s original movie Sharknado, an L.A.-set “unnatural disaster” creature feature starring Beverly Hills 90210′s Ian Ziering and American Pie’s Tara Reid. With 387,000 total tweets, the film came within 2,500 tweets of tying Game of Thrones’ “Red Wedding” episode. Here, Syfy’s Evp of Programming and Original Movies, Thomas Vitale — who’s in the midst of developing a New York-set sequel to air in summer 2014 — explains how the phenomenon happened. And people still want to know: Vitale apologized for phoning EW late because, “I had a movie producer in here saying,

Lynn Lowry Joins Sam Qualiana's The Legend of Six Fingers

  • Dread Central
Actress Lynn Lowry has joined the cast of Sam Qualiana’s upcoming found footage monster movie The Legend of Six Fingers, according to author and filmmaker Gregory Lamberson, who is producing.

Writer-director Qualiana and Lamberson previously collaborated on Snow Shark: Ancient Snow Beast and worked together on Chris Olen Ray’s Battledogs and Debbie Rochon’s Model Hunger. Lowry, memorable for her roles in George Romero’s The Crazies and David Cronenberg’s Shivers (aka They Came from Within), starred in Model Hunger, currently in post-production.

“I’m not being hyperbolic when I say that Lynn is amazing in Model Hunger,” says Lamberson. “It’s a benchmark performance that ranks up there with Terry O’Quinn’s work in The Stepfather, and Sam and I are thrilled to have her in The Legend of Six Fingers. We’ve got some impressive talent on this project.”

In Six Fingers Lowry will

Bigfoot DNA: Sasquatch is the result of cryptid sex with humans, says scientist

  • Pop2it
A researcher by the name of Melba S. Ketchum reports she and her team have examined Bigfoot DNA. Ketchum claims her evidence -- which is yet to be submitted to peer review -- proves 15,000 year old cryptids procreated with modern human women, resulting in  the mysterious and elusive Sasquatch.

"A team of scientists can verify that their five-year long DNA study, currently under peer-review, confirms the existence of a novel hominin hybrid species, commonly called 'Bigfoot' or 'Sasquatch,' living in North America," says the news release. "Researchers' extensive DNA sequencing suggests that the legendary Sasquatch is a human relative that arose approximately 15,000 years ago."

According to Yahoo News, Ketchum has requested that, based on her findings, the U.S. government recognize Bigfoot as "an indigenous people and immediately protect their human and Constitutional rights against those who would see in their physical and cultural differences a 'license' to hunt,

Danny Bonaduce and Barry Williams Battle SyFy’s Bigfoot This August

Did you miss Danny Bonaduce and Barry Williams when they squared off against Sasquatch in the SyFy channel original movie “Bigfoot”? If so, you probably shouldn’t spend too much time crying in the corner about it. Fortunately for those of us who missed this television event, director Bruce Davison’s creature feature is coming to DVD this August. Yes, it’s that Bruce Davison. Weird, right? And if Bonaduce and Williams aren’t enough to draw you in, it’s also worth noting that Alice Cooper, Sherilyn Fenn, and Howard Hesseman make appearances, as well. I can’t believe I’m using Howard Hesseman’s name as a selling point for a Bigfoot movie. Check out this enlightening synopsis: 1970′s pop culture icons Danny Bonaduce and Barry Williams face off in the hunt for the legendary mountain creature. No joke: That’s the summary currently available on IMDb. Shameful.

The Asylum's Bigfoot Crosses Borders! A Movie Review

Director: Bruce Davison. Writers: Brian Brinkman, Micho Rutare. Cast: Barry Williams, Danny Bonaduce, Sherilyn Fenn, Bruce Davison, Andre Royo, and Howard Hesseman. One of The Asylum's latest sacrificial offerings to the SyFy Network is Bigfoot. In Canada, this movie made its premiere on Space! The Imagination Station last week and viewers on both sides of the border can ask what the hell was that thing that they have found. Some may be more inclined to go hunting for the real thing. This company is well known for poking fun at larger film properties that include mutant animals, weather anomalies and haunted mansions. Their staying power comes from the fact that if the premise is not registered or trademarked, it's fair game for it to be ridiculed. Creative license can only go so far, and with Bigfoot, nobody owns the copyright to cryptozoology's most famous beast. Anyone can quest for the

B-Sides: Alice Cooper's Identity Crisis

This weekend’s B-Sides is dedicated to the memory of the late Alice Cooper. No, the horror rocker isn’t actually dead, but he was killed last weekend when he got punted to death in Syfy’s Bigfoot. Not the first time he was mauled on film by a hairy beast.

That last time was in the 1984 Spanish werewolf flick Monster Dog. As rock star Vincent Raven returning to his hometown to film a new music video, Alice Cooper found himself nose-to-snout with a lupine nightmare with a taste for Eighties musicians.

The music video is for a song titled “Identity Crisis” Cooper composed exclusively for Monster Dog. The clip you are about to see is from the music video shoot that opens the film.

For over 15 years “Identity Crisis” was only available in the form you are about to see and heard later on playing again over the closing credits of Monster Dog.

'Bigfoot's' Danny Bonaduce on 'Partridge Family' and having the 'weirdest demographic'

Zap2it: Starring with "The Brady Bunch's" Barry Williams in the movie "Bigfoot" (Saturday, June 30) will put you back in the public eye in a big way. What types of fan approaches do you get these days?

Danny Bonaduce: I have the weirdest demographic. There are people my age and up from the "Partridge Family" days, then I've had a very successful radio career for 25 years (currently based in Seattle), then I did the insanely embarrassing but very lucrative reality show "Breaking Bonaduce." And then I immediately tried to save my career by writing and producing a show called "My Kid's the Next Child Star" ... which was a thinly veiled cover for "Hey, I'll teach your kid not to grow up to be like me."

I'll have 65-year-old women come up to me and say, "I've been watching you since I was a little girl." And I'm like,

Barry Williams and Danny Bonaduce battle “Bigfoot” — and each other — in a Syfy original

It’s been kind of a ’70s flashback week here at Channel Guide. One of my compatriots, Lori, got to finally interview her teenage crush Leif Garrett, while I got to screen Syfy’s latest original movie, Bigfoot, which casts Barry Williams of The Brady Bunch and Danny Bonaduce of The Partridge Family. And in a way, the film somewhat resembles, in plot, anyway, one of those ’70s “nature strikes back” movies that had an environmental message. Of course, it’s filled with the usual Syfy cheese, too. Bigfoot takes place in Deadwood, South Dakota, where Bonaduce plays an obnoxious radio host (not [...]

Barry Williams accepts Danny Bonaduce 'Bigfoot' rematch 'on one condition: I can kick his butt'

Danny Bonaduce and Barry Williams have a unique TV history, and this weekend, it gets a new chapter.

The two actors were among ABC's most popular stars of family-friendly sitcoms in the late '60s and early '70s, Bonaduce as precocious Danny on "The Partridge Family" and Williams as earnest Greg on "The Brady Bunch." Their paths crossed memorably in the 2002 premiere of Fox's short-lived (as in, two episodes) "Celebrity Boxing," with Bonaduce pretty much ruling their bout.

On Saturday (June 30), they're back together in "Bigfoot," a new Syfy movie that makes them opponents again, this time in pursuit of the title creature. Other notables are involved -- Howard Hesseman ("Wkrp in Cincinnati") and rock icon Alice Cooper are among co-stars, and actor Bruce Davison ("X-Men") is the director -- but there's no question the Bonaduce vs. Williams rematch is the main event.

"I felt terrible," Bonaduce tells Zap
