Songs and Impressions (1928)

The team of Marlow and Jordan are the talents here as they run through three songs as well as the impressions, which I'm sure you gathered from the title. The Stephen Foster tune "Old Folks at Home" is given a new spin here as it's done by an impression of a 3-year-old, which is somewhat strange to say the least. I must admit that SONGS AND IMPRESSIONS really got on my nerves thanks in large part to Marlow. As soon as she started up with her weird sounds (almost sounding like Tweety Bird on cocaine) my ears began to bleed and her high-pitched singing wasn't much better. I will give her and Jordan credit that they managed to appear quite good in a movie as they certainly had energy and they manage to make you take notice of them. However, when they've got nothing much to do in the act it's just hard to fully enjoy what they're doing. None of the songs were all that impressive and I can't say that any of the impressions were either. This one here is just for those wanting to see everything related to Vitaphone.
