[1] Slumdog Millionaire and Skins star Dev Patel is the latest actor to join the cast of Aaron Sorkin's HBO pilot More As This Story Develops. The story revolves around a cable news anchor named Will McCallister (Jeff Daniels) and his executive producer Mackenzie (Emily Mortimer) as they attempt to get their show back on track after a massive staff shake-up. Alison Pill, Sam Waterston, Olivia Munn, John Gallagher Jr., Thomas Sadoski and Josh Pence [2] are also signed on to star. Few details have been given on Patel's character, but it is said that he will be "a series regular who works at the channel." Scott Rudin and Alan Poul are executive producing the project, along with Sorkin. Greg Mottola (Superbad, Adventureland) will direct the pilot. High-profile writer/producer Aaron Sorkin is preparing for a return to television with More As This Story Develops, a HBO pilot about the controversial world of cable news. The latest cast announcement is Dev Patel, most famous for his starring role in Slumdog Millionaire.

Patel will be playing yet another staffer at the cable news show that More As This Story Develops portrays, under the sensationalist anchor (Jeff Daniels) and no-nonsense executive producer (Emily Mortimer, who was cast instead of Marissa Tomei). Other announced stars include Olivia Munn, Alison Pill, and Sam Waterston.

Hollywood's most famous hotel will be the setting for an HBO miniseries written by Emmy and Oscar winner Aaron Sorkin and produced by "The Office" star John Krasinski.

The miniseries will be set at the famed Chateau Marmont hotel, which has hosted dozens of movie stars and other famous faces over the years -- everyone from John Wayne to John Belushi, who died there in 1982. Krasinski will probably also act in the project, which is in the early stages of development, Deadline reports.

The miniseries will be based in part on the book "Life at the Marmont," by the hotel's former co-owner, Raymond R. Sarlot, and Fred Basten. Krasinski, who lives nearby, says he wants the miniseries to tell the history of Hollywood through the hotel's star-studded guest book.

Darren Aronofsky Joins Magic World War II Drama Series In Development At HBO

Darren Aronofsky, who is currently shopping Noah, his edgy re-telling of the Noah's Ark story, has also come on board an HBO drama series project, which has been in development at the pay cable network for the past several months. Titled Hobgoblin, the drama is being written by the husband-and-wife duo of Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman and sounds like Inglourious Basterds with magicians. It revolves around a group of con men and magicians using their skills of deception to help defeat Hitler during World War II. Aronofsky is set to direct the potential pilot and executive produce with Chabon, Waldman, John Lesher and Adam Kassan. Aronofsky is the latest director to take a TV gig after a strong showing at the Oscars in the past couple of years.
