Hard work...doesn't equal success
27 April 2012 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This was my post on the message boards, but there were no reviews here, so here it is: Prior to seeing it, I assumed it might be a student film.

But, it looks, sounds, and feels....not, like a student film, but rather, a very well funded student film.

Tons of CGI, with student-grade acting and cinematography.

The beginning was the only interesting part, in which you have what appears to be claymation mixed with traditional CGI. Not knowing any live action was going to follow, I assumed the whole thing was going to be this unusual blend of old and new animation. Sadly, it only lasted a few minutes.

The rest, is a sad sad reminder of how common sense always takes a backseat to hope and enthusiasm (and shameless emulation). This will be forgotten before it's even had a chance to be seen, and clearly there were thousands of man-hours put into it. Makes you wonder how much better individuals like these might have done had they put those same hours into a different, more original, more organic, and infinitely less complicated project which might have stood a chance. History is filled with these, and there will be more of them in just a few milliseconds.

Years later they might ask themselves what could have been, had they taken the path less traveled.

This specific path, is pretty worn and beat up.

For effort, you must give them respect, it was obviously a difficult project. A pity that working harder isn't as efficient a road to success as working smarter. But if it were, every hyper-tenacious and tireless film maker would be ridiculously successful.

Kids, learn from this.
