Amitabh Bachchan was attending a concert in In New York prior to starting this project. In the evening he went out to eat in restaurant and was impressed with the restaurant performer's music, so asked him to burn a CD of his music. While listening to the CD, he liked a particular beat and decided that this particular music could be used for his Go Meera track.

'Puri Jagannath' was a huge fan of Amitabh Bachchan and wanted to make a film with him. He approached his mentor Ram Gopal Verma who arranged a meeting, where Amitabh was very impressed with the script and signed on instantly.

Amitabh Bachchan was uncomfortable with using profanity in his dialog so the Director suggested that where such a foul word needed to be used it was replaced with the word 'beep'.

Amitabh Bachchan had not ridden a Harley Davidson bike in the past, and had asked for a week's training in an open space. The training didn't happen, and the bike was brought in on the shooting set, but Bachchan eventually managed to ride it.

Raveena Tandon shot for an item song in the film, titled "Main Chandigarh Di Star". The song was removed from the final print and only used for marketing, there was rumors that Tandon was extremely annoyed with this, whilst the makers justified that the item number was only shot for marketing purpose and wasn't meant to be in the final print.

The 'mahurat' shot of the movie was done in March 2011 at Khoja Bungalow in Versova. The Director broke the coconut, actor Sonu Sood featured in the mahurat shot The event was also attended by Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek Bachchan, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and actress Sonal Chauhan.

On 26 April 2011, movie's shooting was disrupted, when Raj Thackeray led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena claimed that there were around 40 foreigners shooting in the movie without proper work permits and visas. MNS filed a police complaint in this regard and later stalled the shooting. Following day, director Puri Jagannath apologized to the outfit stating that there were indeed few junior foreign artists in the shoot without proper documentation, and assured to be more vigilant in future.

The marketing started with teasers of listing some of Amitabh's classic angry Young man films, the main reason for this was to give the audience the feeling that the same angry Amitabh will be back with Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap.

The working title of the film was Bbuddah, and Ho ga Tera baap was the tagline. Whilst in production it was agreed Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap would be a more suitable name.
