- After the latest weigh-in when Courtney was automatically evicted from the ranch (which also meant that with the demise of the red team, Brett was also asked to leave since he no longer had anyone to train), the remaining nine contestants learn that they will be spending the week in New Zealand. The trip ends up being an emotional one for Moses, whose father spent much time there as he was growing up. The start of their trip incorporates many adventure elements, two which include Auckland's Sky Tower, the tallest structure in the southern hemisphere. One of those adventures makes one contestant and one trainer face their ultimate fear. The team challenge - a 5 kilometer race - also incorporates adventure elements in that it is run across rugged mountain terrain, which includes running through a creek bed and climbing up a slippery sand dune. The first workout brings out a difference in opinion between Ken and Cara. During the last chance work-out where Bob leads everyone - including the other trainers - in a yoga session, Cara takes Ken aside to deal with his issues. Despite the spectacular nature of the setting, everyone is concerned about the week's weigh-in, especially due to the toll the travel may have taken on their bodies.—Huggo
- The nine remaining contestants arrive in New Zealand and embark on the adventure of a lifetime, starting with a visit to Sky Harbor, a popular tourist attraction known for its breathtaking views. Awaiting them are 51 flights of stairs to climb followed by the adrenaline rush of sky-jumping for contestants and trainers. Then it's on to a 5K challenge New Zealand-style, with the winning team getting an unforgettable helicopter ride to gorgeous Waiheke Island. The trainers take contestants to the Auckland Fish Market, where they talk about eating healthy while travelling abroad, and Jillian has a lively lobster encounter. Later, the contestants charter an American Cup racing boat to sail around Auckland Harbor, and one player with a special connection to New Zealand gets a very generous gift.—NBC Publicity
- Open with Cara talking about not wanting what happened to Brett to happen to her this week. Alison then tells everyone the next two weeks will be spent in New Zealand.
On the airplane there is a trivia challenge to see who gets the lone seat in first class. Austin comes closest to guessing the correct height of Auckland, New Zealand's Sky Tower, the tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere (1,076 feet).
Alison greets them in New Zealand. She asks Moses about his connection with the country and he says that many years ago his father was chosen among 11 children to travel to New Zealand to receive an education. Moses credits that for the path which eventually led to him being in the U.S. She points to the Sky Tower in the distance and tells them it is the site of their first "adventure."
Cara greets them at the Sky Tower and tells them they are climbing to the top via the stairs. At the top Bob tells them they have two choices for getting back down: taking the stairs or via a jump from the observation deck strapped to guide-cables. They see Jillian is currently strapped in.
Jillian makes it to the bottom and Bob tells them all but Rulon and Moses (weight), and Jay (heart condition) has the option to take the cable to the bottom. Everyone is fired-up to jump other than Ken, who claims heights are his No. 1 fear. Bob tells us that he is also deathly afraid of heights and tells Ken that he will try the jump if Ken will do it as well. Ken eventually agrees.
The other contestants jump and universally love the experience. Bob jumps with some reservation but seem happy to have given it a try. Eventually Ken follows through and is incredibly proud of himself for taking a stab at his fear.
Bob asks Moses more about his father's trip to New Zealand. After learning the significance of the place to their family he "breaks the rules" and lets Moses use his phone to call his father and tell him where he is.
Next up is a visit to an America's Cup-style racing yacht. On the trip the contestants perform a few of the duties that go with racing the vessels and take part in a faux race with another yacht.
As the first full workout in New Zealand begins, Ken takes Cara aside with some complaints. He is worried about the lack of progress Green team has made over the last few weeks and wonders if she is at the same level as Bob and Jillian. This obviously upsets her and the two go back-and-forth. Eventually Ken challenges her, saying what he needs is for her to be in his face more than she has been.
Alison meets the gang with a challenge. It will be a "Kiwi style" 5K, involving a hill, a creek, a sand dune and finishing with a beach run. All three teammates must cross the finish line. The winning team will get a helicopter tour of that part of New Zealand and Moses is already excited for the possibility.
Green team goes out quickly and immediately Jay is having hamstring issues which limit the Black team. Soon it is clear this will be a two-team race between Green and Blue. Green maintains its lead to the sand dune. But Ken and Kaylee have issues climbing the dune and this allows the Blue team to pass them. The Blue team ultimately wins the race, with Green finishing second. Black finishes and Jay is emotional for the accomplishment.
Olivia and Irene agree to step aside and allow Kaylee to enjoy the helicopter trip with her father. They seem to have a great time on the trip.
This weeks's last chance workout begins with Jillian leading the group in some high octane calisthenics followed by Bob's famous yoga. After the workout Cara gives Ken an extra workout.
Blue is the first team to weigh-in. Up first for them is Olivia. She's down two pounds (to 172) and is happy to have lost weight during an unusual week. Irene has lost three pounds (to 161) and says she'll "take that." Alison asks Moses about his father for the 3,124th time this episode before he weighs-in with exactly zero pounds lose (still at 286). Bob is stunned and Moses blames the travel. Blue's percentage is .80.
The Black team is up next. Alison tells them they need to have lost at least seven pounds to beat Blue and be safe. Jay is on the scale first and has gained two pounds this week (up to 272). Jay seems stunned, as does Jillian. The sense in interviews is that Jay is letting them down. Rulon tells Alison he tried to stay focused on the trip before the scale says he lost seven pounds (to 311). This means Hannah needs to have lost at least two pounds for the Black team to be safe. She does it with ease, dropping four pounds (to 164). She's surprised and Black is safe.
The Green team must have lost at least six pounds to beat the Blue team. Kaylee steps to the scale first. She's gained four pounds (to 172) and immediately covers her eyes in horror. She says it was "a hard week" and says her diet hadn't been "right." After we're reminded Austin had a bad weigh-in last week he steps on the scale to a weight loss of eight pounds (to 255). He's couldn't be happier. That means Ken needs to have lost at least two pound to guarantee Green's safety. Ken handles it with no trouble, down six pounds (to 247). Ken gives Cara the credit.
Blue team has lost the weigh-in and the rest of the players will vote on either Olivia or Moses, since Irene had the best week.
An emotional Olivia addresses the rest of the competitors and references wanting children and feeling like she's not there yet. Moses says he wants to be there and needs to be there, but says he thinks his "time is up." Olivia's desire for children seems to be his primary motivation. "This is what's right," he says.
Hannah casts her vote for (duh) Moses, as does Jay and Austin. Despite Olivia's plea for a family and the fact she stepped aside so Kaylee could take the trip around New Zealand with her father this, Kaylee still goes with the "I can't ever write my father's name down" (which is understandable) and votes for Olivia. Ken votes for Moses as well, meaning he will head home. He has positive words for his daughter and thanks everyone for the experience.
During the at-home vignette we see Moses has lost an additional 13 pounds since leaving the show. We see that he returned to New Zealand with his father. The pair visits the school his father attended some 55 years earlier. Moses also bungee jumps off the Auckland Bridge.
