Storyline

Using a narrator and still photographs arranged chronologically, we follow the life and careers of Tom Mix (1880-1940), one of the first stars of Westerns, a daredevil who did his own stunts with his horse Tony, and a former rodeo rider and soldier of fortune. His polished ways contrasted with the gritty style of William S. Hart. In addition to starring roles, Mix directed films for his own Fox subsidiary. His non-Western films didn't do well, but his cowboy pictures, in which he never cussed, drank, or smoked, did well. After retiring from acting with many a broken bone, he died in a road accident in Arizona. Written by <jhailey@hotmail.com>
