John Cusack joins The Numbers Station with Malin Akerman

The Numbers Station action thriller casts John Cusack Kasper Barfoed (The Candidate) directs the film which starts shooting this November with Sean and Bryan Furst of Furst Films producing alongside Matador Films' Nigel Thomas. Chris Fenton and Chris Cowlesare executive producing. In the F. Scott Frazier-scripted film Cusack stars as a disgraced black-ops agent who is given a dead-end job of protecting a code operator (Akerman) for an isolated covert CIA broadcast station. Cusack was last seen in the uproariously funny Hot Tub Time Machine. His Shanghai project has yet to find U.S. release, while, as far as upcoming work goes, he's completed Morgan O'Neill's The Factory with Jennifer Carpenter and Mae Whitman and is in post-production phase for Limbo as well as Lee Daniels' The Paperboy with Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey »

John Cusack Set to Co-star in Lee Daniels’ The Paperboy

Sadly, noble ideals can always be perverted, and evil can result even from the pursuit of truth is the conclusion of Pete Dexter’s The Paperboy novel. Luckily, Lee Daniels, director of the Oscar-winning Precious will direct, co-produce and co-write the erotic thriller based on The Paperboy novel.

Also, John Cusack is in a role previously set for Tobey Maguire, who dropped out due to schedule conflict with Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby.

Previously, Nicole Kidman replaced Sofia Vergara who had to leave the project for the same scheduling conflict reason with Modern Family series. Luckily, or sadly, the time will show.

As for Zac Efron, he has already confirmed as part of the cast, but there’s no word yet on what role Efron will play. Cusack plays a condemned prisoner while Kidman, if her deal can be made, plays a woman with a dark side who writes »
