A genuine and lighthearted movie! You don't have to be from the south to relate to Crystal Lynn's crazy family. Grandma Lee had me in tears from laughing. What I loved the most as a southern watching this movie was the details that really made it feel like my home town. The awful dresses at church, the hidden moonshine, the grandma's smoking Virginia slims, the BOJANGLES! Super cute and heartwarming movie! A sweet love story wrapped up in the terrifying experience of meeting your significant others family for the first time. The film makes lighthearted fun of the south and redneck traditions without looking down on them. LOVED IT
I was laughing so hard my checks hurt. I promise that you will
recognize at least one of the characters in this movie as being like
someone you know from home. There was so much that was familiar and
warm about the movie. There are scenes where I was thinking, "Oh boy,
I've been here before." It's also set in North Carolina and filmed in
the Charlotte area and Stanley area. It's a pleasant treat to see
places you know so well if you're from around there. It shows how
pretty the city of Charlotte can be.
It has a great message about family and loving who you are and where you come from. I would recommend to anyone who loves a good laugh.
