At General Hospital‘s annual Nurses Ball, “there’s always lots of little surprises,” executive producer Frank Valentini tells TVLine. And, since this year’s variety show is kicking off tomorrow (ABC, 3/2c), he’s revealing what a few of them are. For instance…
The volatile combination of “Elizabeth’s burgeoning feelings for Franco” and the enmity between the formerly-psychotic artist and Liz’s ex, Jason, has an unexpected side effect that Liason fans will love (and JaSam fans will hate). “That conflict,” says the showrunner, “pulls Liz back into Jason’s life and his world.”

Every year of movies seems to have a dominant theme. Half way through the year, it seems the focus is on artificial intelligence. It's well documented on the site of our fervent love for Alex Garland's Ex Machina that so eloquently dealt with the matter of A.I. and humanity's coexistence (read Brad's interview with Alex here). Heck, even Marvel touched on the subject with Avengers: Age of Ultron. Those are most fresh in our mind, but on June 16, Neill Blomkamp's Chappie will hit shelves on Blu-ray and DVD to remind moviegoers it was the first film to kick off the year of A.I. Of course, of the three, Chappie garnered less than stellar reviews (check out Brad's theatrical review). But just like the titular android, it's a flawed yet misunderstood piece worthy of reinspection. Part of the negative reception likely has to do with...

Amy Schumer and Bill Hader in TrainwreckPhoto: Universal Pictures With Sundance just wrapping up and Berlin starting up in a few days, we are now immersed in the year-long barrage of film festivals. One such festival in South By Southwest. A few weeks back they announced the first seven films of their program, including the opening night film Brand: A Second Coming. Today, they have revealed the rest of the features to be shown in March (except for the midnight program), and some of it has me very excited. The bigger titles announced do not do much for me. Paul Feig's Spy, starring Melissa McCarthy, and the Will Ferrell/Kevin Hart starrer Get Hard leave a lot to be desired in terms of anticipation, as does a work in progress cut of Judd Apatow's latest film Trainwreck. I'm guessing an Apatow work in progress is probably around three and a half hours.

Plus, Lari faces his father on Secret Lives, Will confronts an ex-lover on Nashville, Ste has his day in court on Hollyoaks and Salem’s gays have it out on Days.
Langford’s Picks and Pans
Secret Lives (Finland)
It’s nice to see that despite all the problems in their lives, Lari and Elias still find the time to be romantic and *gasp* have sex. Some other TV gay duos and possible duos should take note.
I’m also glad for some forward motion with this story, which was stalling for the past few weeks, and is something this show often does. Though I suspect it’s not going to go well between Lari and his father given that Illkea thinks that Elias ‘converted’ his son. My guess is that Lari’s wish that he and Elias live together permanently is going to become real. I did chuckle when...

Since Mondays are just the worst, we here at Zap2it have decided to give your week a much-needed wake-up call with 10 TV teasers -- just to remind you that when the work day is over, your DVR waits to welcome you home.
This week, our Monday Kickstart includes "New Girl" flashback fun, a unique "Grey's Anatomy" patient, and info about the end of the "Vampire Diaries" season.
"The Vampire Diaries": Klaus, Rebekah, and Elijah will be heading to New Orleans in Episode 20 this season for "The Originals" spin-off episode... but that doesn't mean they're just going to stay in NoLa, killing time and waiting for the fall TV season. We can tell you that Episode 20 isn't the last we'll see of Klaus this season on "The Vampire Diaries." Unfinished business in Mystic Falls, perhaps?
"New Girl": The ongoing Cece-and-Schmidt saga could have turned out completely different. In an upcoming flashback episode,...

Army Wives has added another recurring player as the show revamps itself in its seventh season. Brant Daugherty will appear as a recent West Point graduate and a love interest for one of the new Wives, according to Deadline. If Daugherty looks familiar to you, it might be because he appeared on Days of Our Lives as the guy who had an interest in Sonny just when Will wasn't sure how out he could be on? You know, the guy who made us question our loyalty to WilSon before that story could get going? (Our interview with Brant Daugherty here.)
As pilot season news continues, ABC is adapting another Britcom, this time hiring Rob Corddry to star in an adaptation of Spy, about a single father who accidentally gets hired by the secret service.

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, here are some queries we are going to throw at you, from shows including American Idol, How I Met Your Mother, Parenthood, Revenge and Happy Endings!
1 | Did anyone else predict that Fringe “switched” Ninas on us, when the “bad” one came across so genuinely bewildered and innocent?
2 | While we appreciate the need for dramatic conflict, doesn’t anyone within The Walking Dead‘s survivor group like each other? Even Lost had its moments of bonding.
3 | Not to get all Miley Cyrus on you,...

Giant Octopus we have the next legendary battle of the behemoths, ending once-and-for-all the eternal debate: Would you rather be caught in an Earthquake or a Tsunami? The answer will finally be revealed in the upcoming Disaster Wars: Earthquake Vs. Tsunami. Watch the trailer below:
Deep underwater in the Marianas Trench an accident results in a devastating Tsunami that destroys the Hawaiian Islands as it continues toward the West Coast. Panic ensues all up and down the western coast of North and South America. In an attempt to lessen its impact, scientists launch an underwater explosion that inadvertently makes the tsunami more powerful and focused on Los Angeles. If slashers and monsters can have their own "versus" movies, then why can’t natural disasters duke it out? Finally, at long last, we will get the answer to the burning question as to who would win in a battle between an earthquake and a tsunami. In this case the tagline of “whoever wins, we lose” will truly be apropos like never before.
Disaster Wars: Earthquake vs. Tsunami is an epic piece of low budget filmmaking currently in pre-production at TomCat Films, the production company behind Aliens vs. Avatars and the upcoming Jurassic Shark.

A few weeks back we brought you the mind-blowing trailer for the zero budget superhero spoof The Amazing Bulk. While that film still seeks distribution, the filmmaker's next b-movie bonanza already has a trailer. It's not an April Fools Day prank. It's Aliens vs. Avatars, folks!
Director Lewis Schoenbrun was kind enough to pass along a lengthy four-page summary of the Aliens vs. Avatars plot that I narrowed down a bit. A clique of college age friends vacationing in a cabin in the woods become prey for an alien monster called the "Necrosis" that is capable of invisibility and shape-shifting into the form of anything it has clawed or consumed. Ava (Cassie Fliegel), a tall extraterrestrial female with blue skin from a civilization nearly wiped out by the "Necrosis", arrives to kill the space monster once and for all. She'll change her skin color to something more Caucasian to blend in with the humans,...
