Justin Bieber roast: Chris D'Elia tears apart his stupid outfit

17 December 2013 6:45 PM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Unfortunately your browser does not support IFrames.

"Whitney" alum Chris D'Elia had a very, very special guest during a recent comedy gig at Los Angeles' The Laugh Factory. While on stage, he called up Justin Bieber from the audience simply to tear apart his "ridiculous" outfit.

It's pretty clear from the playful nature of this mini-roast that D'Elia and Bieber are friendly, but it's still a refreshing bit to watch. Just like Zach Galifianakis' "Between Two Ferns" interview, it's nice to see someone else say what we've all been thinking.

Here D'Elia makes fun of Bieber's harem pants, leather tank top, "swag" knee pads and jersey with no name on it. Bieber takes it all in stride as D'Elia comments that the pop star's pants are so baggy in the crotch area that "hey, you don't even know where my d*** is. ... My d*** could be inside you."

'30 Rock' actor Maulik Pancholy comes out as gay

11 November 2013 12:57 PM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Until this point, Maulik Pancholy, best known for stints on "Weeds," "30 Rock," and "Whitney," has kept quiet about his personal life. But the actor is opening up about his relationship -- and his sexuality -- in Out magazine's annual "Out100" feature, highlighting the 100 most influential Lgbt celebrities.

Pancholy tells the magazine, "I just celebrated my nine-year anniversary with my partner. It feels like a nice time to be celebrating something like that, especially on the heels of the Doma and Prop 8 decisions."

This is the first time the actor, whom you'd most likely as Jack Donaghy's assistant on the recently wrapped "30 Rock," has spoken out about his relationship nor confirmed whether he was gay or straight. You can see -- or, rather, hear -- Pancholy as the title character in the just-renewed animated Nickelodeon series "Sanjay and Craig." »

TV Critics’ Roundtable: Can “Sean Saves The World” Save Itself?

24 October 2013 11:11 AM, PDT | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

Can Sean Saves The World take the gay sitcom torch and run with it?

Oh, the gay sitcom.

It’s a spectacular and welcome feat that we now live in a time when there are a plethora of gay characters on television but, also, we now have series centered around gay characters. Sure, we’re still stinging after the failures of last seasons’ excellent The New Normal and disappointing Partners, but this fall we’ve been given a new chance to have a successful gay series in Sean Saves The World.

In the NBC sitcom, Sean Hayes plays a single gay man taking on the full-time parenting role with his teenager daughter, Ellie (Samantha Isler) and learning how to juggle home, his demanding job with a new boss (Thomas Lennon) and a meddlesome mother (the wonderful Linda Lavin). Sarah Silverman and ‘Susan 313′: Where Was Cable?

22 October 2013 1:21 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The convenient shorthand for “Susan 313″ is “failed comedy pilot,” but one viewing illustrates how inadequate that phrase is.

The halfhour program starring Sarah Silverman unveiled on Jash.com today, roughly 18 months after NBC decided not to greenlight it for its 2012-13 primetime schedule, and two things are immediately apparent: that it’s better than almost every other comedy NBC has (admittedly, not a big number), yet no doubt so niche that it’s little surprise that the Peacock passed.

Not even Silverman seems to have any hard feelings about it, saying that NBC “probably did the right thing.”

Whitney Cummings: I Have A Penchant For Danger

Tickets for The 10th annual New York Comedy Festival (running November 6 - 10) went on sale today and ETonline recently sat down with Whitney Cummings, who takes the stage on November 8, to talk about headlining the comedy smorgasbord.

In addition to finding out what she loves about the festival and the city that it calls home, Cummings opened up about how the last two years have changed her and her act forever.

ETonline: What do you like about The New York Comedy Festival?

Whitney Cummings: It's interesting because there are so many festivals now, and it's a great way to see your friends and stuff, but this is the first festival that I'm going to early so I can see shows. The line-up is so good. I'm going to see Wanda Sykes and Bill Burr and John Mulaney; the booking is just awesome. Plus it's New York in the fall, everyone wants to »

Fund This Film: ‘No Pay, Nudity’ Features an All-Star Cast of Non-Stars (Like Brent Spiner)

28 September 2013 7:00 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

I’m not exactly sure what I’m selling here. At first I thought No Pay, Nudity was a documentary about actors. I thought Laurie Metcalf, Nathan Lane, Ted Levine and others were appearing to talk about the positives and negatives of their profession. Then I thought maybe they were at least playing themselves in the movie. After watching the Kickstarter campaign video I don’t know what the finished result will be. It has a scrip by Ethan Sandler (Whitney… wait, don’t go away yet), so it’s fictional. And in addition to the actors already mentioned, the huge ensemble on board includes Lewis Black, Brent Spiner, Jessica Hecht, Austin Pendleton, Boyd Gaines, Mark Blum, Peter Jacobsen and many more whose face you’d recognize before their name. It’s basically a movie full of “that guy” non-stars. But not Curtis Armstrong, apparently, though he does show up in the campaign video. I »

Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Season 1, Episode 2, “The Tagger”

Directed by Craig Zisk

Written by Norm Hiscock

Airs Tuesdays at 8:30pm Est on Fox

This week’s episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine flows even better than last week’s pilot, and even suggests a format for the show. The new comedy grows more promising as the crime this week provides even more entertainment than last week’s. Right from the beginning of the pilot, it’s clear that the driving force of the show is going to be the disagreements between Detective Jake Peralta and Captain Ray Holt, paired with the competitiveness between Jake and Amy. “The Tagger” focuses on the aftermath of the pilot as Jake is forced to spend a lot more time with the Captain.

Rosa is a lot less hostile towards Charles this week and it’s still unclear what her intentions actually are. As she fluctuates between interested and abrupt, »

Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman Skewer James Franco for Comedy Central

26 August 2013 11:04 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

James Franco probably thought being a multi-hyphenate performer and artist seemed pretty great. That was before he agreed to be the subject of this year’s Comedy Central roast, which was taped Aug. 25 at Culver Studios.

From Oscar hosting and marijuana jokes to overexposure and gay rumors, roast master Seth Rogen proved everything was fair game in his opening monologue:

“Who is the real James Franco?,” teased Franco’s “Freaks and Geeks” and “This is the End” co-star. “Is he an artist? Is he an actor? Is he a scholar? He’s tough to pin down. Although I’ve heard many guys have been able to do it.”

Sarah Silverman said that, to be fair, Franco might not have a sexual preference because “he literally can’t open his eyes to see who he’s fucking” and that he was inspired to make his upcoming film “Interior: Leather Bar” after »

Whitney Cummings: 'I Felt Like Everyone Was Against Me'

17 July 2013 12:46 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

When she launched two new comedies in the fall of 2011 -- "2 Broke Girls" and "Whitney," which she also starred in -- it looked like Whitney Cummings was going to be the next big thing.

Two years later, "Whitney" has been canceled and the comedian has lost the support of the people that once lauded her.

In an interview with Howard Stern (above), Cummings opened up about how abandoned she felt by her comedy family when the backlash started.

"This is embarrassing. I'm going to get emotional," Cummings began. "It was crazy because there was such a negative backlash to it that felt really personal. I think as someone who didn't really have a family unit growing up, comics were like my family. As soon as I got the show, I felt like everyone was against me."

Although Cummings admitted to being "heartbroken" over the cancellation of "Whitney," she said she knew it was coming. »

Is the 10/90 Model Heading to NBC with Roseanne Barr?

28 June 2013 2:39 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The 10/90 episode order model leveraged by FX with “Anger Management” may soon be coming to the Peacock.

NBC is eying a new comedy from Roseanne Barr and Linda Wallem, according to Deadline, and plans to order the project straight to series under the 10/90 model. Universal TV would be producing the project. NBC confirmed the project development and model consideration to Variety.

Under this type of series order, 10 episodes of a program — typically a half-hour cable comedy like “Anger Management” — are ordered upfront. Should those 10 produce satisfactory ratings, a 90-episode back order rolls in, leaving the program with a guaranteed 100-episode run ripe for off-network syndie deals. Model is also effective at cutting down back-end costs.

Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury is the distributor behind the model, and has used it not only for “Anger Management,” but also for Tyler Perry laffers and FX’s “Saint George” as well as an untitled Kelsey Grammer/Martin Lawrence project. »

When Whitney Knew Her Sitcom Was Canceled

27 June 2013 6:57 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Whitney Cummings stopped by “The Tonight Show” on Wednesday night, and told Jay Leno she knew her self-titled sitcom was over long before NBC actually canceled it. And it had something to do with an obtrusive promo for "The Voice."

“I knew we were in trouble when I was watching the show ... And the three chairs from ‘The Voice’ come up [and] fill the whole screen and then they flip around and it’s Christina Aguilera, or Shakira. Same difference," Cummings remembered.

“And then I’m like, 'Oh! Look at ‘The Voice!' And then it just doesn’t go back down. And I was like, 'This can’t be good if they’re airing another show during my show.' But Christina Aguilera was great as the star of ‘Whitney,’ I thought.”

Whitney said she was “heartbroken” over the cancellation, but admitted she doesn’t really fit in on network TV. »
