Storyline

Rick is peeved that everybody goes overboard for Mel's client, rival comic Dan Arrow-Smith who, unlike Rick,is up for a clutch of awards but, just for once, fortune smiles on Rick as,following his commercial for car polish,he is chosen to fill in for the holidaying male presenter of the Bargain Channel,Britain's premier shopping channel. Admittedly some of his jokes are considered politically incorrect but he actually manages to get the job on a permanent basis -though only after the regular host chokes to death on a canape. It actually is rocket science

Rick's actually good at something?! So it would seem in this episode where the downbeat comedian finds that actually he's not bad at being the host of a shopping channel programme.

I loved Rick's interactions with Magda throughout this episode, especially the final scene. It's interesting also that Rick is proud of the fact that she's actually excited about his new role, when Marty/Michael really aren't.

'Lead Balloon' follows a similar pattern each episode, but despite the familiarity it still manages to produce new laughs along the way.
