Harry takes action against Jim Coaver and mounts an operation to bring him in and interrogate him over the attacks on the Gavrik's and MI5. Jim defends his actions explaining that his part in meeting with a CIA asset who then attacked Elena, was nothing to do with jeopardizing the partnership between the UK and Russia. Meanwhile Ruth is torn when the Home Secretary is informed that Coaver is missing, and is asked to give up his location. Coaver is taken by CIA operatives only to be tricked, when a team of mercenaries snatches him. Coaver, with his last words warns Harry to retrieve a laptop from the American Embassy as it will reveal who is behind the attacks. Harry then meets with Elena to discuss whether or not Ilya could be involved in the attacks and the two share an intense moment. Approaching the end
16 October 2011 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

As we reach the penultimate episode of the final series of this long running series things are getting tense and all bets are off as to who will make it out alive! With evidence pointing to Harry's erstwhile friend, CIA agent Jim Coaver, Harry has him taken into custody despite his diplomatic status. When Ruth finds out she informs the Home Secretary and before you can say 'diplomatic incident' CIA officers are knocking at the door demanding Coaver's release… except they are not CIA officers. Once the deception is discovered both MI5 and the CIA give chase only to have him thrown from a moving van and die. Conveniently he lasted long enough to tell Harry that he had vital information on his laptop which is now safely under lock and key in a secure room in the US Embassy.

There were a few obvious flaws in this episode; the fake CIA agents were somewhat cliché, the retrieval of the laptop from the US embassy was somewhat unbelievable and having somebody in the driving seat of a car being attacked from behind is about as old as the car! None of this really matters though as the viewer is swept up in the excitement of the story. Having watched 'Spooks' since the first episode I can't wait to see how it all ends next week… I know how I'd like it to end but I know that there are few happy endings for characters in this series.
