Storyline

Sassy, streetwise Max works two jobs just to get by, one of which is waiting tables during the night shift at the retro-hip Williamsburg Diner. Sophisticated Caroline is an uptown trust fund princess who's having a run of bad luck that forces her to reluctantly give waitressing a shot. At first, Max sees Caroline as yet another in a long line of inept servers she must cover for, but she's surprised to find that Caroline has as much substance as she does style. When Caroline discovers Max's knack for baking amazing cupcakes, she sees a lucrative future for them, but they first need to raise the start-up money. Written by CBS

Trivia

One of the writers of the show, Whitney Cummings, also had a short-lived TV show called Whitney (2011) that was canceled 2013. She is a stand-up comedian and is only 5 years older than Kat Dennings and 4 years older than Beth Behrs. See more »

Goofs

Oleg only wears a singlet on his torso when cooking in the kitchen of Han's diner. Dressing in this way would violate food hygiene regulations, which require cooks, chefs, and kitchen hands to be adequately covered in order to prevent hair and sweat from contaminating the food and beverages. I Keep Waiting for it to Get Better
30 October 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

After I first saw the ads for this show, I thought it would be funny. After I saw the first few episodes, I thought it would get better. After I watched the first season, I thought Season 2 would be an improvement. Zero stars for me. This show actually has gotten worse. The acting is so bad it is often excruciating. It seems that the 2 broke girls are just reading punch lines from a cue card. And apparently the writers believe that the more off-color the joke, the funnier. And would somebody please tell the actors that talking really loud does not make this miserably written show any funnier either. I guess the network agrees with me since the shows has been downgraded to the 8:30 time slot. Next stop...Saturday night.
