Storyline

Thanks in part to a Daily Double, Ken Jennings holds the lead after the Jeopardy! round ($8,600, compared to $4,800 for Watson and $2,400 for Brad Rutter). The computer comes back in the Double Jeopardy! round, finding both Daily Doubles and getting one right, but the game is still competitive at the end of the round (Watson has $23,440, Ken has $18,200, and Brad has $5,600). The Final Jeopardy! category is "19th Century Novelists" and all three players provide the correct response, giving Watson the victory both for the game and the two-game challenge. (Ken writes "I for one welcome our new computer overlords" at the end of his Final Jeopardy! response.) IBM's $1 million prize for first place will be donated to the charities World Vision and World Community Grid. Written by Anonymous
