The style the title is presented in is an homage to Blaxploitation films of the 1970s.
Don Cardellini (Marc Hickman) and Mama Cardellini (Arleen Braithwaite) are named after the Cardellini clamp, a fastening tool used in filmmaking lighting equipment.
Hobbs the Hobo (Jim Hayes) is named after Hobb's Grove in Sanger, CA. Writer/Director Valmik Campbell grew up attending the area's annual haunted attraction in October.
The scene where The Hit's (Will Haven) wrapped-up corpse is thrown out of a window only to have it collide with the edge of a garbage dumpster rather than fall inside it is a direct reference to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005) where a similar event occurs. Writer/Director Valmik Campbell immediately knew Cinematographer Eric Ornelas was a perfect choice for this film when he got the reference after reading the original script.
