As soon as Xavier hears April's ill-conceived plan is to pour chemicals onto the factory equipment, he dumps them in the sink, but the mixture produces dangerous fumes. Meanwhile the school staff deduced from his Internet research he must know more. Dex tries to no avail to learn more about and hopefully mend the trouble between Rimeo, who feels stuck at high-school, and lazy Indy who plays a martyr to her hangover. Robertson is happy with a promotion a considers settling down. Leah however says she's not in love with him and realizes she must settle her feelings for Elijah conclusively either way. Written by
It's curious that, after a year where Ruby was mostly unlikable, they give her a plot line that seems designed to make her unlikable...and, actually, she's coming across fairly well. She hasn't actually done anything to split Romeo and Indi up, unless getting Dex to upset them further was deliberate and that's not the way it comes across. The couple seem to be causing the troubles all by themselves and, despite their apology at the end, they do basically come across as doomed.
Xavier has a decent episode but falters at the last hurdle. He's pretty smart in working out Ruby likes Romeo and rightly tells April that her plan is completely insane, especially since she doesn't actually seem to have a plan. But the cliffhanger is ridiculous in the extreme. It's hard to shake the feeling that the reason we don't see Xavier and April collapse is because no-one could work out a way for it to happen:They must have stood in the middle of a cloud of toxic fumes for several minutes and made no attempt to move away from them in order to be lying where they are.The whole "We never told the students what the chemicals were" thing is a bit daft too, since it doesn't seem to occur to Gina until long after she knows Xavier's been looking them up.
There's something about Leah and Robertson as well but I just ended up scratching my head and wondering why they were still getting screen time and why Robertson is being offered a promotion for sitting around while other people solved his case.
