This is one of favorite episodes of the show. This episode is loosely based off of the DC event "Who will where the Cowl". After Batman was out of the picture for a while, a lot of fans were wondering which character in the DC verse was going to take his place.
It's just a lot of fun seeing each of the different superheroes taking on the Batman role while still doing things their way. But it's also a funny commentary on the whole Batman franchise.
Like seeing Oliver/Green Arrow trying to throw one of the Batarangs and it doesn't travel very far and fast, and he wonders how the heck Batman hit accurately with them. It's funny because it induced some reality, physics wise those batarangs really wouldn't work despite the fact we always see Batman throw them like a superhuman baseball pitcher.
However the funnest thing is whenever the heroes take out one criminal or two, several more just pop up out of the blue and their all out of breath and say one of my favorite quotes "How does he do it?" It's not a bad question, it's true Gotham city always seems to have more crime and criminals than Mega City One in "Judge Dredd"; from how much they have to deal with you know it's going to be a long night.
And of course two great moments were when all four of them meet at the same place at the same time and it's pretty much an homage to the "I am Spartacus" moment. But also in the last scene when we see a dimensional portal open and we see all different versions of Batman come to help; I just cracked up because that was practically one huge homage, it's sort of like a "Where Waldo" illustration as I constantly look to see if I recognize each version of Batman from the Else Worlds comics. But it was really touching and that is the heart of the episode, in a way the superheroes in this episode represent ourselves, keeping the symbol of Batman alive.
As long as heroes/superheroes exist there will always be a Batman.
