Both improbable and perhaps impossible
deickemeyer31 May 2015
One of those stories which unaccountably thrills one, even though in a way it is both improbable and perhaps impossible. To see a tough thoroughly thrashed is a pleasurable sensation, and in this instance it is so well done that every miner in the wild town goes to church and listens to the fighting parson preach. It is possible to veer a crowd by exhibiting brute strength, and in this instance it was thoroughly done. Moreover, the acting, the staging and the photography are all alike good. One may say without hesitation that this picture will be popular wherever it is shown, and, like a good story, those who see it will want to see it again. - The Moving Picture World, May 28, 1910
