Storyline

On the surface, Alex and Pete could not be more different. The recently divorced Alex is a hard-working, high-strung lawyer who is raising her 10-year-old daughter, Charlie, as a single mom following her husband's incarceration for insider trading. Unwilling to let anything get in her way, she downsizes into a smaller house and hires charismatic Pete, a free-spirited ladies man and recovering gambling addict who desperately needs this gig with Alex to jumpstart his life -- and prove that he is no longer a screw-up. Upon hiring him, Alex quickly realizes that she has met her match in Pete, who -- along with his motley construction crew - will not only tear apart her kitchen, but transform her worldview in the process. weak functional sitcom
20 August 2013 | by See all my reviews

Amanda Peet is the traditional professional who can't find love. Her daughter is played by Joey King. She's looking to renovate her kitchen and hires David Walton and haphazard crew. Margo Harshman plays her sister, and Jeffrey Tambor plays his father.

This is the traditional smart hot gal sitcom who's looking for love. All the standard characters are here. They are played by good likable actors. But the writing is just not up to snuff. There isn't many jokes. It lasted only 6 episodes. It never found it's voice.

Maybe the concept was professionally written up by veterans. But they definitely needed better writers to tighten up the scripts.
