'Supergirl' takes flight to CBS with a series commitment

19 September 2014 9:31 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler's high profile "Supergirl" pilot has already found a home and its destination may just surprise you. "Supergirl," which comes from Berlanti Productions and Warner Brothers TV, has received a series commitment from CBS, which is making a slightly surprisingly leap into the superhero world.  DC Comics' aggressive push into TV has seen the network land "The Flash," "Arrow" and "iZombie" at The CW, "Gotham" at Fox and "Constantine" at NBC. [Both "Arrow" and "The Flash" also come from Berlanti Productions.]  While ABC doesn't have a DC Comics property, that may have just a wee bit to do with corporate ties to Marvel, which has brought the network "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and the upcoming "Agent Carter." The logline for "Supergirl" explains, "Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. »

‘Revenge’ Season 4 Trailer: Victoria Grayson is Out for Blood

16 September 2014 10:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

ABC has released a new trailer for season four of “Revenge,” which ominously promises “what goes around comes around” on the Hamptons-set drama.

Last season, Emily VanCamp’s Emily Thorne (aka Amanda Clarke) had Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) committed to a mental institution, but if the new promo is any indication, it won’t be long before Victoria’s back and looking for vengeance. But how will both women react to the realization that David Clarke, Emily’s father and Victoria’s former paramour, is actually alive?

At the Atx Television Festival in June, the show’s producers revealed that David “is going to cause a lot of problems” for both women, and that Victoria is out for blood in season four. “She’s done terrible things, she’s obviously a very wounded and messed up character, but at the end of the day, when she manages to get out, »

Extended 'Revenge' Season 4 Trailer Proves 'What Goes Around Comes Around' (Video)

16 September 2014 9:20 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

A new, extended trailer for season four of "Revenge" shows that the tables have turned on Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp), and Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) is the one seeking retribution this time around.

At the end of season three, Emily had checked Victoria into a mental institution after the woman discovered that Emily was actually Amanda Clarke. But by the looks of this trailer, Victoria has been sprung, and the angry woman is out to take Emily/Amanda down once and for all.

"When everything you love has been stolen from you, someone has to pay," Victoria says in ominous narration.

Obviously, Emily is her target, but it looks like plenty of chaos is in store for the rest of the "Revenge" cast, too. We'll see just how Emily and Victoria settle their differences when "Revenge" premieres on ABC on September 28.

The Punisher cameo in Captain America: The Winter Soldier?

14 September 2014 1:55 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

While at a DVD and Blu-ray signing at Amoeba Music in Hollywood, California for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the Russo Brothers were on hand to answer questions from fans who all came in a variety of cosplay.

When asked by Coming Soon about cameos in the movie, the Russos talked about a particular truck that may be driven by a Marvel Universe vigilante who could be getting their own One-Shot down the line. According to the brothers, when Nick Fury is being attacked in the streets, a yellow Penske truck slams into his attackers and then later on in the movie, when Agent Sitwell is thrown into traffic, he is hit by the very same Penske truck. They then gave a very tongue in cheek response to indicate this person may be someone we recognise…

“The man who drives that truck is very highly trained,” joked Joe Russo. “He thinks on his own terms. »

Captain America: The Winter Soldier co-director details Hawkeye’s deleted sequence

2 September 2014 2:49 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Last week Jeremy Renner suggested that he could be set to follow-up his role in Avengers: Age of Ultron with another outing as Hawkeye in 2016′s Captain America 3; however, as it happened, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely had planned to include the archer in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, with Renner’s schedule ultimately preventing him from appearing. Now, during an interview with Screen Rant, co-director Joe Russo has detailed just exactly how Hawkeye would have figured into this year’s Phase Two solo sequel:

What it was going to be, we were trying to complicate the relationship between Cap and his S.H.I.E.L.D agent friends. If Hawkeye got a call from S.H.I.E.L.D saying Captain America is a fugitive, would he listen to that call or not listen to that call? That sequence actually was heartbreaking for us to cut it. »

Moviefone's Top DVD of the Week

"Belle"

What's It About? This 18th century English romance is about Dido Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), a biracial woman raised by her aristocratic great uncle and aunt, Lord and Lady Mansfield. She grows up alongside her cousin Elizabeth (Sarah Gadon) as equals and best friends, but as they come of age, their differences become all too apparent -- to each other and to their would-be suitors. Meanwhile, Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) is facing a trial as Lord Chief Justice of England that could change the future of slavery. Will Dido find love on her own terms?

Why We're In: It's an elegant period piece perfect for Jane Austen fans, and it's a subtle but effective examination of the intersection of class and race in 18th century England. Mbatha-Raw is fantastic, and director Amma Asante has an excellent eye for detail.
