Tyrant's Moran Atias Joins Midseason Fox Medical Drama The Resident

17 August 2017 12:32 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Tyrant alum Moran Atias has been added to the cast of The Resident, Fox’s midseason medical drama fronted by The Good Wife‘s Matt Czuchy.

Focusing on three doctors (played by Halt and Catch Fire‘s Manish Dayal, Czuchry and People vs. O.J. Simpson‘s Bruce Greenwood) and a dedicated nurse (Revenge‘s Emily VanCamp) at different stages of their careers, The Resident promises to “rip back the curtain to reveal the truth of what really happens, both good and bad, in hospitals across the country.” (I’ve screened the pilot and it’s a shame it’s being held for midseason. »

Twin Peaks Part 14 Recap: Like Daughter, Like Mother

14 August 2017 5:04 AM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Nope, no Audrey Horne on Twin Peaks this week. I think the solution to her ever-deepening mystery won’t be wrapped up for at least a few more episodes. And for the record, I do not believe she is an actress or somehow trapped inside the soap opera “Invitation To Love” from the original series. I mean, c’mon, think about it, that makes no sense. She’s an actress in a soap opera playing a character with her own name? A soap opera that references events taking place in her hometown? That’s completely absurd (right??). That theory is »

Ray Donovan Recap: Bad Luck Be a Lady

13 August 2017 6:57 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

What happened in “Las Vegas” was a total freakin’ bummer.

The second episode of Ray Donovan‘s time-tripping fifth season flashed back to Ray and Abby’s year-ago 21st anniversary-themed road trip to Sin City, which ended with Abby suffering a seizure in a hotel room. She and Ray would soon learn what we’ve known since last week’s season premiere: Her cancer has (presumably) not only returned, but has metastasized the brain and is now terminal.  (Abby’s seizure was foreshadowed at the beginning of the hour when she brought in a handyman to help troubleshoot the mysterious »

The Revenge alum – and star of upcoming drama The Resident – tells People exclusively that she’s partnered up with the World Wildlife Fund and Tiger Beer to help create awareness of the diminishing tiger population in the wild.

“The fact that these tigers could potentially disappear is heartbreaking,” VanCamp, 31, says.

On Saturday, VanCamp will join a number of other celebrities – like Megan Fox – in celebrating Global Tiger Day and participating in the #3890Tigers social media campaign, which highlights the world’s last 3,890 wild tigers. VanCamp »

Luc Besson Movies Ranked from Worst to Best

20 July 2017 7:54 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Too Hollywood for art houses and too art house for Hollywood, iconoclastic French filmmaker Luc Besson has always had to blaze his own trail. Unwilling — or unable — to compromise from the very start (his debut feature was a dialogue-free post-apocalyptic drama about a waterless future where it occasionally rains fish), Besson continues to offset his pigheadedness with his passion. He eventually got so sick of looking for support that he launched his own production company, EuropaCorp, which has become one of the most profitable in all of Europe by churning out the kind of carnivalesque shlock that made its founder so famous in the first place. Besson may not have directed the likes of “Taken,” “Lock-Out,” and “Colombiana,” but his fingerprints are all over them.

The Deuce: Watch James Franco Pull Double Duty in Sexy, Seedy New Teaser

What’s better than a 1970s HBO porn drama with James Franco? A 1970s HBO porn drama with two James Francos! And you get to see — and hear — the actor pull double duty in a recently released new teaser trailer for The Deuce.

We also are introduced to Maggie Gyllenhaal, a prostitute named Eileen “Candy” Merrell; at one point, Candy proudly tells another of her street sisters that she doesn’t have a pimp “man. »

‘American Fighter’ Film Launches With Tommy Flanagan, Bryan Craig, Sean Patrick Flanery

21 June 2017 6:09 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Producers Forrest Lucas and Ali Afshar are launching the underground fighting drama “American Fighter” with Tommy Flanagan, Bryan Craig, Sean Patrick Flanery, Parviz Sayyad, and George Kosturos attached to star.

The Esx Entertainment movie is a sequel to “American Wrestler: The Wizard”, which starred John Voight, William Fichtner, Lia Marie Johnson, Afshar, and Kosturos.

Shaun Piccinino is directing “American Fighter”, which revolves around a desperate teenager who is forced into the dangerous world of underground fighting to win enough money to save his ailing mother. He finds out what he’s made of in the face of hungry competitors.

Afshar, Christina Moore and Anna Zielinski are producing the film, based on Afshar’s story. Principal photography begins this month in Northern California.

“Continuing down the line of a ‘Rocky’ meets ‘Karate Kid’ story, this new ‘American Wrestler’ movie remains a very heartfelt project for me,” Afshar said. “The response to my true story was extremely motivating so I wanted to keep the story going in a consistent manner and tone and have the right script and cast to rekindle the magic of the first film. The sequel is an original story and not based on my life – I don’t think I would have excelled as an underground fighter.”

Lucas, founder and owner of Lucas Oil Products, teamed with actor-producer Afshar in 2015 to launch the production company Esx Entertainment. The slate includes action-drama “Ride,” starring actor and rapper Chris “Ludacris” Bridges; the drama “Dirt” starring Kevin Dillon and DeRon Horton; and “The Dog Lover,” a drama starring Lea Thompson, James Remar, Allison Paige, and Jayson Blair.

Flanagan’s credits include “Sons of Anarchy” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.” Craig won a pair of daytime Emmys for “General Hospital.” Flanery starred in “Boondock Saints” and “Powder.”
